アーセナルで出番を減らしているイングランド代表GKアーロン・ラムズデールだが、ユーロ2024本大会メンバー選出への影響はどうだろうか。イギリス『ミラー』が伝えている。

2021-22シーズンにアーセナル加入のラムズデール。すぐさま“名手”ベルント・レノ(現フルアム)から定位置を奪取し、ビルドアップ面の貢献も高く評価される形で、昨シーズンまでの2年間その座を確保してきた。

しかし、今シーズンは新戦力ダビド・ラヤが開幕後まもなくラムズデールから定位置を奪取。2番手GKとなったラムズデールは出場機会が国内カップ戦中心となり、昨秋ごろから今冬のレンタル移籍が報じられていた。
また、A代表では長らくベンチを温める存在だったものの、今シーズン開幕直後の国際親善試合・スコットランド代表戦では先発起用されており、「ピックフォードから定位置奪取も?」と言われ始めた矢先のアーセナルでの2番手降格という形だ。

元イングランド代表FWガブリエル・アグボンラホル氏は昨秋、イギリス『talkSport』にて「ユーロ2024が近づいているね。カルヴァン・フィリップスやハリー・マグワイア、それにラムズデール、彼らはもしかするとメンバーから外れるかもしれない。たとえチームをチャンピオンズリーグ(CL)出場に導くような実力者であってもフットボールとは冷酷なものだよ」と、所属クラブで出番が少ない自国選手の現状を憂いていた。
ご存知の通り、K・フィリップスはマンチェスター・シティからウェストハムへ半年間のドライローンに出たが、ラムズデールはアーセナル残留。そもそもがイングランド代表で主力級ではないこともあり、現状ラムズデールは直近の代表メンバーに招集(昨年11月)も、ユーロ2024では選外になるだろうと考えられている。

何はともあれ、まずはラムズデールの定位置奪還を期待したいところ。競争がアーセナルを強くする。

首位攻防戦で痛恨ミスの冨安健洋にアルテタ監督が言及「あのバックパスは7年間やっていなかった」

女子選手の意見を参考に配慮し白パンツを中止、ナイキが女子W杯出場13カ国の新ユニフォームを発表!

FIFA公式がロシアW杯ベストイレブンを発表! ヤングやパウリーニョら“クセがすごい”選出も…

元ユナイテッドSDがFAに復帰…新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任

元マンチェスター・ユナイテッドのスポーツディレクター(SD)、ダン・アシュワース氏が、イングランドサッカー協会(FA)に復帰することになった。 FAは14日、アシュワース氏が新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任すると発表。同職ではイングランド代表の男女チームと緊密に連携していくことになるという。 昨年12月にユナイテッドのSDをわずか5カ月で退任したアシュワース氏。それ以前にはブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオン、ニューカッスルで手腕を発揮しており、国内外のクラブからのオファーも想定されていたが、2018年まで6年間に渡って勤務していたFAに復帰することになった。 アシュワース氏は、セント・ジョージズ・パークの再開発を監督し、2028年に開催されるユーロ2028の共催に向け、競技施設とピッチの改善を目指す。 さらに、この新役職は、男子フットボールのテクニカルディレクターであるジョン・マクダーモット氏と緊密に連携するとともに、FAの最高経営責任者(CEO)であるマーク・ブリンガム氏とも連携する。 また、イングランド国内の地元出身のコーチの育成にも携わる予定だという。 2025.05.15 16:30 Thu
