セルジーニョ・デストが愚行退場でアメリカは格下に逆転負け…バーホルター監督「許しがたいこと」

アメリカ代表DFセルジーニョ・デスト(PSV)の愚行には指揮官も嘆き節だ。

現地時間20日、アメリカはConcacafネーションズリーグ準々決勝第2戦でトリニタード・トバゴ代表と敵地で対戦。試合の主導権を握り、25分にアントニー・ロビンソンのゴールで先制したが、39分にデストが退場処分となると、風向きは一変した。

43分にはレオン・ムーアに同点弾を許すと、57分にはアルビン・ジョーンズにゴールを割れて、FIFAランキング99位の相手に1-2と逆転負け。合計スコアでは4-2と上回り、準決勝進出を決めはしたものの、苦虫を嚙み潰したような結果となった。

デストはタッチライン際でのトラップ時、ラインアウトの判定に対して納得がいかず、スタンドへ向かってボールを大きく蹴り上げた。これが警告の対象となり、加えてその後も執拗に抗議。即座に2枚目のイエローカードをもらうこととなり、退場処分を命じられた。

ラインアウトの判定そのものには同情の余地があるが、グレッグ・バーホルター監督はデストの行動を「許しがたいこと」とバッサリ切り捨てた。『ESPN』が伝えている。

「あれは組織として我々のあるべき姿ではない。良い判定であれ悪い判定であれ、あらゆる状況と戦いながら、精神面と規律を保ち、前進し続け、適切に対処することを誇りとしている。セルジーニョのリアクションは明らかに正しいものではなかった」

「チーム、選手、スタッフとして、我々は責任を追及する必要がある。彼は多くの選手たちを危険にさらし、この天候の中、ほかの選手たちは多くの労力を割くことになった。これは許しがたいことだ」

先制点のロビンソンもデストの行為を「プロ意識の欠如」とポツリ。ただ、デストはすでにチームに謝罪をしており、自身のインスタグラムでも反省の弁を述べている。指揮官は、デストにはこの件を糧に成長して欲しいと、締めくくった。

「彼はチームに謝罪したよ。このようなことは2度と起こさないと。まだ若いが、素晴らしいチームの一員だ。彼はここから学び、成長するだろう。愚かな間違いを犯したのは確かだが、すでにチームへは謝罪した。これを受けて入れて我々も前進するだろう」

吐く息は真っ白、-19℃の過酷環境でW杯予選が開催! 選手たちも寒すぎて防寒対策

女子選手の意見を参考に配慮し白パンツを中止、ナイキが女子W杯出場13カ国の新ユニフォームを発表!

アメリカ女子代表新監督にエマ・ヘイズ氏の就任内定チェルシー女子の指揮は今季限り

癌でもサッカーを続ける少年へ…プリシッチが“芋虫”パフォーマンスの理由を打ち明ける
