ウルグアイは2021年11月、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)南米予選での不振を受けて、15年間にわたって指揮を執ってきたオスカル・タバレス氏が退任。後任としてチームを託されたディエゴ・アロンソ前監督はチームを立て直してW杯本大会出場を決めたが、グループステージでは1勝1分1敗の3位で敗退となり、大会後に契約満了となった。
U-20ウルグアイ代表を率いるマルセロ・ブロリ監督が、24日に行われた日本代表とのキリンチャレンジカップ2023で代行指揮を執ったが、ウルグアイサッカー連盟(AUF)は後任探しを続けている。
そんな中、移籍市場に精通するイタリア人記者のファブリツィオ・ロマーノ氏によると、現在AUFはビエルサ氏との交渉を進めているとのこと。まだ合意はないものの話し合いは進行中であり、AUFは南米予選終了までの契約を打診しているという。
「エル・ロコ(狂人)」の愛称で知られるビエルサ氏は、これまでアルゼンチン代表、チリ代表、アスレティック・ビルバオ、マルセイユなどで指揮を執り、2018年6月には当時チャンピオンシップ(イングランド2部)に所属していたリーズ・ユナイテッドの指揮官に就任。2019-2020シーズンにはプレミアリーグ昇格を成し遂げファンから熱烈な支持を受けていたが、2022年2月に成績不振を理由として解任された。

サプライヤーなしのウルグアイ代表が新ユニフォームを発表!男女平等促進のため紫色も取り入れた史上初のデザインに

“つり目”ポーズのU-20ウルグアイ代表MFバルベルデが人種差別を否定も謝罪
▽韓国で行われているFIFA U-20ワールドカップにおいて、人種差別的なジェスチャーをしたとされたレアル・マドリーのU-20ウルグアイ代表MFフェデリコ・バルベルデだが、これを否定した。イギリス『BBC』が報じた。 ▽ウルグアイは、準々決勝でU-20ポルトガル代表と対戦。120分間を終えて2-2のドローとなり、PK戦までもつれた試合を5-4で制したウルグアイが、ベスト4に勝ち進んだ。 ▽この試合でPKによる同点ゴールを決めたバルベルデが、目尻を釣り上げるゴールパフォーマンスを行っていた。このことが問題視され、アジア人に対する差別だと騒がれていたが、本人が否定した。 「これは人種差別的なセレブレーションではなく、友人のための個人的なお祝いだった」 「人種差別的な意図はなかったけど、僕は謝罪したい」 ▽“つり目”のパフォーマンスは最近問題になることが多く、中国スーパーリーグの河北華夏に所属するアルゼンチン代表FWエセキエル・ラベッシがクラブの写真で同様のポーズをして謝罪。また、バレーボールのセルビア女子代表チームも日本での大会出場権を獲得したことに対して同様のポーズを取り、批判を受けて謝罪する事態が起きていた。 2017.06.06 12:34 Tue

コパ・アメリカの組み合わせ決定! 北中米6カ国も参加しアメリカで開催【コパ・アメリカ2024】
