24日、キリンチャレンジカップ2023でウルグアイは日本と対戦。ウガルテは[4-3-3]で先発出場した。
スポルティングCPに所属するウガルテは、チームメイトのDFセバスティアン・コアテスと共に先発のピッチに立ち、同じくチームメイトのMF守田英正とも対戦することとなった。
試合は、互いに譲らない展開の中、フェデリコ・バルベルデのゴールでウルグアイが先制。しかし、後半に日本は途中出場の伊東純也のクロスを西村拓真が決めて同点に。1-1の引き分けに終わった。
ウガルテは日本との対戦を終えて印象をコメント。「日本人はテクニックもショートパスもとても優れている」と称えている。
「ピッチもとても早かったね。僕たちは適応する必要があった。みんな素晴らしいクオリティの選手で、適応できたと思う」

守田英正が4試合ぶりに復帰か? 日本代表で離脱後は3試合欠場…第2子誕生とも報道

「美しい」「たまらない」ウルグアイ代表が記念ユニフォームを発表!五輪初優勝から100周年「サプライヤーなしの方がいいじゃないか」

サプライヤーなしのウルグアイ代表が新ユニフォームを発表!男女平等促進のため紫色も取り入れた史上初のデザインに

“つり目”ポーズのU-20ウルグアイ代表MFバルベルデが人種差別を否定も謝罪
▽韓国で行われているFIFA U-20ワールドカップにおいて、人種差別的なジェスチャーをしたとされたレアル・マドリーのU-20ウルグアイ代表MFフェデリコ・バルベルデだが、これを否定した。イギリス『BBC』が報じた。 ▽ウルグアイは、準々決勝でU-20ポルトガル代表と対戦。120分間を終えて2-2のドローとなり、PK戦までもつれた試合を5-4で制したウルグアイが、ベスト4に勝ち進んだ。 ▽この試合でPKによる同点ゴールを決めたバルベルデが、目尻を釣り上げるゴールパフォーマンスを行っていた。このことが問題視され、アジア人に対する差別だと騒がれていたが、本人が否定した。 「これは人種差別的なセレブレーションではなく、友人のための個人的なお祝いだった」 「人種差別的な意図はなかったけど、僕は謝罪したい」 ▽“つり目”のパフォーマンスは最近問題になることが多く、中国スーパーリーグの河北華夏に所属するアルゼンチン代表FWエセキエル・ラベッシがクラブの写真で同様のポーズをして謝罪。また、バレーボールのセルビア女子代表チームも日本での大会出場権を獲得したことに対して同様のポーズを取り、批判を受けて謝罪する事態が起きていた。 2017.06.06 12:34 Tue

コパ・アメリカの組み合わせ決定! 北中米6カ国も参加しアメリカで開催【コパ・アメリカ2024】
