「長谷部誠も“マガト流”を経験したので…」同僚はフランクフルト守備陣の高齢化を心配せず

日本代表MF長谷部誠や鎌田大地が所属するフランクフルトはブンデスリーガ第27節消化時点で4位に位置。「ベストのフランクフルトでプレーしている」と語るDFマルコ・ルスは、守備陣の高齢化を心配していないようだ。

2004年に同クラブのトップチームに引き上げられたルスは2016年に精巣腫瘍が見つかり、2016-17シーズンのほとんどを棒に振ることに。だが、病気を克服したDFは今シーズン公式戦17試合に出場するなど、以前の姿を取り戻している。そんなルスだが、ドイツ紙『ビルト』で来季クラブ史上初のチャンピオンズリーグ参戦も視野に入れるチームは「僕は現在、ベストのアイントラハト(フランクフルト)でプレーしていると見ても良いだろう」と言及。次のように続けた。

「2013年のチームも強かったが、今のチームの特徴は、そのスピリット、ハートだ! 今より強力なフランクフルトは記憶にないよ。各代表の選手たちが戻ってきたら新たな目標を明かすよ。遠回しな言い方をしても意味がない。これほど長い間上位につけていれば、8位や9位に終わりたくない」

ニコ・コバチ監督が主に採用する3バックだが、長谷部(34)やダビド・アブラハム(31)とディフェンスラインの高齢化が進んでいる。しかし現在32歳のルスはそれを課題と考えず。自身と長谷部のコンディションに関しては、以前ヴォルフスブルクで受けたとある指揮官の指導の影響もあると信じるようだ。

「スタミナの面で、(年齢は)不利なことはない。監督のおかげで僕は最高なコンディションを維持できている。ハードワークが実を結ぶものだね。フェリックス・マガトの下でもそうだった。ダビドは24歳の身体と言ってもいい。ハーゼ(長谷部の愛称)だってヴォルフスブルクでマガト流を経験したので良いフィットネス状態だね」

厳しい練習から「鬼軍曹」としても知られるマガト氏。その指導法が現在の長谷部やルスのコンディションにつながっているのだろうか。

40歳でも現役続行の長谷部誠、マックでの意外なエピソード告白「大爆笑された」…現在は若手とのズレを痛感「DJハセベは望まれていない」
