いつの時代であっても、“最高のサッカー選手”というのはファンの間で話題になる。

一番ゴールを決めた選手なのか、最もテクニックがある選手なのか、それともタイトルを一番獲っている選手なのか。見る人1人1人の好みもあり、“最高”という言葉で括るには基準がたくさんありすぎる状況だ。

そんな中、1956年にフランスのサッカー専門誌『フランス・フットボール』によって創設されたのが、世界の年間最優秀選手に送られる“バロンドール”だ。

11月29日には2021年の受賞者が発表され、パリ・サンジェルマン(PSG)のアルゼンチン代表FWリオネル・メッシが受賞した。史上最多の7度目、2位のポルトガル代表FWクリスティアーノ・ロナウド(マンチェスター・ユナイテッド)の5回に2つ差をつけることとなった。

この選出には、多くの意見が噴出。2位に終わったバイエルンのポーランド代表FWロベルト・レヴァンドフスキがふさわしいという声が多く、事前の予想でもレヴァンドフスキが受賞するという声も多かったが、メッシへと手渡され、レヴァンドフスキは新設された「ストライカー・オブ・ザ・イヤー」を受賞することとなった。

ペレさんの思い出/六川亨の日本サッカーの歩み

新年、明けましておめでとうございます。といったところで恐縮だが、やはり昨年末の29日に死去した“キング"ペレに触れないわけにはいかないだろう。選手としてただ一人3度のW杯に優勝し、当時の優勝トロフィーだったジュール・リメ杯を永久保持する原動力となったことや、初めて1000ゴールを達成するなど「記録にも記憶にも残る」偉大なストライカーだった。ブラジルは過去すべてのW杯に出場している唯一の国だが、グループリーグで敗退したことが3度ある。第1回の1930年ウルグアイ大会はグループリーグでユーゴスラビアに負け、続く34年イタリア大会はトーナメント方式で行われたため初戦でスペインに敗退した。そして現行の形に近い参加16チームが4チームずつのリーグ戦を行い、各グループの上位2チーム計8チームがトーナメント形式で争う58年スウェーデン大会以降で、ブラジルがグループリーグで敗退したのは66年イングランドW杯しかない。このイングランドW杯はブラジルの3連覇がかかっていたが、ペレはヨーロッパ勢の悪質なファウルに苦しめられた。初戦のブルガリア戦(2-0)で負傷すると、続くハンガリー戦(1-3)は欠場を余儀なくされた。そしてポルトガル戦(1-3)で復帰したものの、またも激しいタックルを受けてピッチ外へと運び出され、ブラジルはグループリーグで敗退した。当時のW杯では選手交代が認められていなかった。ところがペレの負傷によりブラジルの戦力は明らかにダウンしたため、70年メキシコ大会から2人まで選手交代ができるようになった。さらにイングランドW杯は、ヨーロッパ・スタイルのラフプレーまがいのタックルを主審が反則として取らなかったため南米勢は苦しめられたが、アルゼンチンはラフプレーにはラフプレーで応酬。このため準々決勝のイングランド戦は「まるで戦争だ」とも言われ、英国人はアルゼンチン人を「アニマル」と揶揄した。 35分にはアルゼンチンのラティン主将が退場を命じられたが、執拗に主審に食い下がったため試合が中断された。そこでメキシコ大会からは観衆やテレビの視聴者にも分かりやすいように、警告にはイエローカードが、退場にはレッドカードが採用されることになった。もちろん選手に反論は許されなかった。話を“キング"に戻そう。90年代の頃、友人から1本のビデオをダビングしてもらった。タイトルはポルトガル語で『isso é pele』(英語だとthis is pele)といい、60~70年代のペレの全盛期のゴールシーンを集めたビデオだった。このビデオを見て腰を抜かした。当時の90年代までヨーロッパや南米の名選手が使っているフェイントのほとんどを、すでに30年前のペレが実践していたからだ。「ありとあらゆるフェイントの原型はペレにあった」と言ってもいい。それほど多彩なフェイントとトップスピードで対戦相手を幻惑し、いとも簡単に抜いては次々とゴールを決めていった。残念ながらこのビデオは友人に貸したところ、よくあるパターンでその後は所在不明となってしまった。年末にはネットでもペレの功績が多くのメディアで取り上げられた。その中にはディエゴ・マラドーナと比較する論調もあった。プレーした時代が違うため、比較すること自体、あまり意味はないと思う。アルゼンチン人ならペレよりマラドーナが上だときっと言うだろう。国によって、世代によって変わるものだからだ。しかし、2000年の暮れ、まだサッカー専門誌に勤務していた頃、1年近くかけて『20世紀のベストプレーヤー100』という増刊号を無謀にも出した。きっかけはイングランドのサッカー専門誌『ワールドサッカー』が読者や識者アンケートで20世紀のベスト100を人をランキングしたからだった。『ワールドサッカー』のランキングを参考にしつつ(記事の翻訳・転載契約は断られたが自由に使っていいと言われたため)、日本ならどんな順位になるのか、編集部で意見をぶつけあった。そこで問題となるのはベスト10、さらに言うならベスト4の順位をどうするかということだった。基本的にアルフレッド・ディ・ステファノ(6位)、フェレンツ・プスカシュ(9位)、スタンレー・マシューズ(10位)といった、編集者がプレーをライブで見ていない選手は『ワールドサッカー』誌の順位を踏襲した。問題となったのは、ペレかマラドーナ――に加えてトータル・フットボールを具現化したヨハン・クライフと、リベロという概念を確立したフランツ・ベッケンバウアーをどう扱うかということだった。結論から言うと、1位はペレ、2位がクライフ、3位がマラドーナ、そして4位がベッケンバウアー(5位がプラティニ)ということになった。たぶん、選んだスタッフの世代(年齢)がクライフを2位に “推し"たのだと思う。ペレが『10』をエースナンバーにしたように、クライフの『14』もある年代には特別な番号となったからだろう。そしてペレは、72年にサントスFCでの初来日以来、77年のニューヨーク・コスモス(引退試合でベッケンバウアーらと来日)、84年には釜本邦茂の引退試合(ヤンマー対日本リーグ選抜)と国立競技場で3回プレーした。さらにサッカー教室や2002年W杯の招致活動などでも来日するなど大の親日家だった。前述の増刊号の巻頭にも選出されたことに対する感謝のメッセージに加え、Jリーグと日韓W杯の成功を祝うレターを送ってくれた。そんな“キング"と仕事で会うと、日系人の通訳が気をきかせてくれて、いつも「ロクカワさん」と低音ながら温かみのある声で呼びかけてくれた。そうした細やかな気配りの人柄が、世界中のファンから愛された一番の理由であることは疑う余地はない。サッカー界に語り継がれる“巨星"は墜ちてしまった。しかし、彼の逝去を悼む声の多さに救われたのは私だけではないだろう。“キング"は“永遠"になった。 2023.01.02 22:00 Mon

DFBがスーパーカップの名称変更を発表!2025シーズンから“フランツ・ベッケンバウアー・スーパーカップ”に

ドイツサッカー協会(DFB)は20日、シーズン開幕戦であるスーパーカップの名称を“フランツ・ベッケンバウアー・スーパーカップ”に変更することを発表した。シーズン開幕を告げるブンデスリーガ王者とDFBポカール優勝チームによる一戦は、1976年に“DFBスーパーカップ”として誕生。その後、1996年より14年間の休止期間を経て、2010年から“DFLスーパーカップ”として公式に再開された。今回の名称変更は、今年1月に78歳で逝去したドイツのレジェンドであるフランツ・ベッケンバウアー氏に敬意を示すもので、DFBのベルント・ノイエンドルフ会長は公式サイトで以下のように説明した。｢フランツ・ベッケンバウアーの功績と生涯の仕事を称え、敬意を表することは、私個人にとっても、DFBにとっても重要なことである。フランツ・ベッケンバウアーのサッカー界における功績は比類なく、忘れることはできない。スーパーカップの名称を変更することで、私たちはフランツ・ベッケンバウアーとサッカー界のつながりを目に見える形で示すことができる。それはプロだけでなく、DFBカップに参加するアマチュアも同様だ。ベッケンバウアー・ファミリーとDFLに感謝します｣なお、今回の名称変更に伴い、大会のロゴやサポートプログラムなども変更されるとのこと。次回のスーパーカップは2025年8月16日に開催される。 2024.12.21 09:50 Sat

「これはどっちも買う」「素敵すぎ」ドイツ代表のW杯ユニが大好評!ホームは1908年をモチーフに

本当は18歳ではなく22歳? ドルトムントの至宝・ムココに年齢詐称疑惑が再燃、出生証明書の真偽が問われることに

“爆撃機”と親しまれた元西ドイツ代表のレジェンド、ゲルト・ミュラー氏が75歳で逝去
