大韓サッカー協会(KFA)は27日、韓国代表監督にU-23韓国代表を指揮するファン・ソンホン監督(55)が就任することを発表した。
なお、ファン・ソンホン監督は3月に行われる2026年北中米ワールドカップ(W杯)のタイ代表との2連戦のみ指揮を執る予定となっており、正式な監督は改めて選任することになるという。
韓国はユルゲン・クリンスマン氏が、カタールW杯後に監督に就任。しかし、就任直後はなかなか結果が出ず、批判的な声が噴出する。
さらに、アジアカップ2023ではベスト4に進出するも、準決勝ではヨルダン代表相手に惨敗。加えて、チーム内での内紛が起きていたことも敗退後に発覚するなどし、その手腕に再び疑問符がつくこととなっていた。
KFAはアジアカップを振り返り、それまでの指揮を含めてクリンスマン監督の続投を断念。解任に踏み切っていた。

日本と対戦するU-23韓国代表が発表! セルティックやデュッセルドルフの選手も【AFC U23アジアカップ】
