アメリカがWゴールドカップの初代女王に輝いた
10日、CONCACAF Wゴールドカップ決勝のアメリカ女子代表vsブラジル女子代表が行われ、1-0でアメリカが勝利。3大会連続9度目の優勝を果たした。今回が初の開催となったCONCACAF Wゴールドカップ。アメリカとブラジルの決勝となった試合には、3万1528人の観客が詰めかけた。
6日に行われた準決勝のカナダ女子代表とアメリカの試合は、豪雨の影響もあり水溜まりだらけの最悪なピッチとなっていたスナップドラゴン・スタジアムで行われた決勝。この日は晴れて雨の影響はなくプレーできた。
試合は前半からブラジルが積極的にゴールに迫ることに。6分にはアントニアがロングシュートでゴールを狙うも枠を外れることに。11分にはボックス手前で得たFKをドゥダ・サンパイオが直接狙ったが、右のサイドネットを揺らすこととなった。
その後も積極的にゴールに向かうブラジルに対し、アメリカはなかなかチャンスを作れず。それでも31分にはスルーパスにアレックス・モーガンが抜け出したが、GKルシアナが先に触りシュートを打たせない。
押し込んでいたブラジルではなくアメリカがリードして後半を迎えると、アメリカが隙を突いて追加点を狙うことに。79分にはスルーパスに反応したヤスミンがシュートを決めるが、オフサイドで認められない。
アメリカ1点リードのまま終盤を迎えると、追いつきたいブラジルが猛攻を見せるもゴールを奪えず。アメリカが1-0で勝利し、初代女王に輝くこととなった。

アメリカで史上最年少13歳のプロ選手が誕生! 北米スポーツ界でも最年少記録に

NWSLレギュラーシーズンが終了、プレーオフにはなでしこ選手所属の3チームも進出!
