サンディエゴ・ウェーブのアメリカ女子代表FWアレックス・モーガン(35)が現役ラストマッチを迎えた。代表通算224試合で123得点を誇るモーガン。先のパリ・オリンピックこそメンバーから外れたが、2度の女子ワールドカップ(W杯)制覇やロンドン・オリンピックでの金メダルに貢献した。
クラブレベルではリヨンやトッテナムでもプレーしたアメリカ女子サッカー界のスターだが、5日に第二子の妊娠を明かすとともに、直近の試合をもって現役引退と自身のSNSで発表した。
そして、所属先のサンディエゴ・ウェーブは8日のナショナル・ウィメンズ・サッカーリーグ(NWSL)でノースカロライナ・カレッジとホームで対戦。モーガンはキャプテンとして先発した。
サンディエゴ・ウェーブが1点を追いかけるなか、10分の自身にPK失敗もあったが、チームは3分後に同点。直後に背番号「13」にちなみ、13分に交代を告げられ、現役の最後を迎えた。

「壮大で記憶に残る」ナイキのPVでムバッペvsロナウジーニョが実現!豪炎寺修也も登場で海外ファン歓喜
