イングランド代表は7日、UEFAネーションズリーグ(UNL)・リーグB・グループ2第1節でアイルランド代表とアウェイで対戦し2-0で勝利した。

前回大会でリーグA・グループ3の最下位となり、リーグBに降格したイングランド。準優勝に終わったユーロ2024でガレス・サウスゲイト監督が辞任し、リー・カーズリー暫定監督で臨む今大会の初戦では、ケインやサカ、ライス、GKピックフォードら主力が先発に名を連ねた。

ヘイミル・ハルグリムソン監督の初陣となるアイルランドに対し、イングランドは11分に先制する。アレクサンダー=アーノルドのロングパスからボックス中央まで駆け上がったゴードンがダイレクトシュート。これは相手GKに弾かれるも、ボックス右で再びボールを拾ったゴードンが折り返しを供給すると、ケインがシュート。これも相手DFのブロックに防がれたが、最後はゴール前に走り込んだライスがゴール右上にシュートを突き刺した。

幸先良く先制したイングランドは、15分にも相手FKのこぼれ球を自陣で拾ったライスがドリブルでロングカウンター。最後はライスのパスをボックス左まで駆け上がったゴードンが折り返し、ケインがシュートを放ったが、これは相手GKの好セーブに阻まれた。

その後も攻勢を続けるイングランドは26分、メイヌーの縦パスに反応したライスがボックス左手前のサカとのワンツーでボックス右まで侵入すると、ダイレクトクロスを中央のグリーリッシュがゴール右隅にシュートを流し込んだ。

ハーフタイムにかけて、イングランドが70%以上のボール保持率を記録するほど一方的な展開になるが、3点目を奪うには至らず。前半は2-0で終了した。

迎えた後半もイングランドがボールを持つ展開で推移。しかし、膠着状態が続くと、78分にグリーリッシュ、メイヌー、ゴードンを下げてエゼと代表デビューとなるギブス=ホワイト、アンヘル・ゴメスを投入する3枚替えを敢行。

後半半ば以降も、両者ともになかなかシュートシーンが乏しい時間が続いたが、イングランドは試合終了間際にチャンス。93分、右サイド深くまでドリブルで切り込んだサカの折り返しをニアで途中出場のボーウェンが合わせたが、これは相手GKのセーブに阻まれた。

結局、試合はそのまま2-0でタイムアップ。前半の2ゴールで逃げ切ったイングランドがリー・カーズリー暫定監督の初陣を白星で飾った。

ライスがチェルシーアカデミーからの放出を回想…「大きな失望」

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】
