フランス女子代表のエルヴェ・ルナール監督が開催国との大一番に向けて口を開いた。『ロイター』が伝えた。

主軸選手との軋轢が報じられた前コリーヌ・ディアクル監督の解任に伴い、3月30日に緊急就任が決まったエルヴェ・ルナール監督(54)。

オーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子ワールドカップ(W杯)のグループステージ初戦では、ジャマイカ女子代表を相手に終始攻め込みながらもゴールレスドローに終わったフランスだが、22歳のレフティー、DFセルマ・バシャの復帰以降はブラジル女子代表、パナマ女子代表を相手に連勝。ラウンド16でも代表に呼び戻したFWウジェニー・ル・ソマーが期待に応える2ゴールを挙げるなど、モロッコ女子代表を4-0と圧倒した。
フランスはベスト8で開催国オーストラリアと対戦する。当然、"完全アウェイ"の戦いが予想されるが、ルナール監督は「開催国、それが良いことにも悪いことにもなり得ることを知っている」とコメント。前回フランス大会準々決勝で、レ・ブルーがホームサポーターの前でアメリカ女子代表相手に苦渋をなめた経験を踏まえ、必ずしも不利とは限らないと語った。

「我々は自分たちが何をすべきか正確に分かっている。開催国というのは、それが良いことにも悪いことにもなり得ることを我々は知っている。これは2019年にフランスチームが経験したことだ。敗退したフランスにとってもそうであったように、非常に残念なことかもしれない」
「我々はオーストラリアにも、2019年にフランスがホスト国だったときに経験したことと全く同じことを経験させたいと思っている」

W杯開幕直前の親善試合ではオーストラリアに0-1と敗れているが、「準々決勝では考え方が全く違う」と監督は述べ、自信を覗かせた。

「我々は大きな野心を持ってやってきた。そして、大きな野心を持ってやってきたのであれば、最高のチームを倒せる力が必要だ。オーストラリアには多くの資質があるので、我々はもちろんリスペクトをしているが、ここで恐れることは何もないんだ」

「言い訳はしたくない」東京五輪敗退のフランス代表FWジニャックが振り返る「相手が自分たちよりも強かった」
