大型補強を進めるアストン・ビラだが、その煽りをジャマイカ代表FWレオン・ベイリー(25)が受ける形になるかもしれない。

昨シーズンのプレミアリーグを7位でフィニッシュし、ヨーロッパ・カンファレンスリーグ(ECL)への参戦を掴んだアストン・ビラ。昨秋のウナイ・エメリ監督就任から急成長を遂げるイングランドの古豪は、今夏の移籍市場でメガクラブ行きも噂された実力者の補強に成功している。

ビジャレアルからスペイン代表DFパウ・トーレス(26)、レバークーゼンからフランス代表FWムサ・ディアビ(24)を獲得。いずれも移籍金は公表されていないものの、前者は3250万ユーロ(約50億9000万円)+ボーナス、後者はクラブレコードの5500万ユーロ(約86億3000万円)+ボーナスと報じられている。

イギリス『フットボール・インサイダー』によると、ビラは現在も新たなアタッカーの獲得を目指しており、足りなくなった資金を調達すべくベイリーを売りに出す方針で一致。レバークーゼン時代に大器と称されたベイリーだが、“後輩”ディアビの加入もあってエメリ監督のプランではベンチウォーマーだという。

また、ベイリーにはサウジアラビアのアル・ナスルが関心を寄せているといい、アストン・ビラは2000万ユーロ(約31億3000万円)を少し上回るオファーなら売却を躊躇せず。サウジのクラブにとっては全くもって障壁にならない額と言える。

2021年夏にビラ入りしたベイリーは昨シーズンの公式戦36試合出場で5ゴール4アシスト。ケガであまり稼働できなかった1年目を乗り越え、2年目の昨シーズンは主力として奮闘したが、野心的に上位進出を目指すクラブのアタッカーとしては物足りない数字に終わった。

「寄せすぎ」「コピーだ」アストン・ビラの新エンブレムがチェルシーに酷似?実は過去のデザインを踏襲したもの
