27日、2022年の『ザ・ベスト・FIFAフットボールアウォーズ(The Best)』が行われ、パリ・サンジェルマン(PSG)のアルゼンチン代表FWリオネル・メッシが男子の最優秀選手に選出された。

代表チームのコーチとキャプテン、そして世界中の専門ジャーナリストとサポーターによって投票されて決まる『The Best』。国際サッカー連盟(FIFA)は監督、キャプテンの投票内容を公表している。

それぞれの国の監督とキャプテンが1位(5pt)、2位(3pt)、3位(1pt)を選出。その合計で最も多かった選手がメッシだった。
自身には投票できないシステムとなっている中、受賞者のメッシは1位にブラジル代表FWネイマール(PSG)、2位にフランス代表FWキリアン・ムバッペ(PSG)、3位にフランス代表FWカリム・ベンゼマ(レアル・マドリー)を選んでいた。

また、日本代表のキャプテンであるDF吉田麻也(シャルケ)は、1位にベンゼマ、2位にメッシ、3位にクロアチア代表MFルカ・モドリッチ(レアル・マドリー)を選出している。
監督では、アルゼンチン代表をカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)優勝に導いたリオネル・スカローニ監督は1位にメッシ、2位にアルゼンチン代表FWフリアン・アルバレス(マンチェスター・シティ)、3位にモドリッチを選出している。

一方、日本代表の森保一監督は、1位にメッシ、2位にムバッペ、3位にフリアン・アルバレスを選出していた。

メッシと妻は30年来の仲、幼馴染の2人が結ばれW杯で優勝するまで

メッシ 大好きなマテ茶のストローは7万円超えの特別仕様

54歳バティストゥータ氏がチャリティーマッチでゴール!4年前には左足首を人工関節に置換

「神と神」メッシとイブラヒモビッチがパリで再会!笑顔での肩組みショットに「今はどんな関係性なんだろ」

日本代表の新ユニフォームの発表時期が判明?続々と各国がお披露目している中で日本は遅めの発表か
