22日、東京オリンピックの男子サッカー1次ラウンド・グループBでU-24ニュージーランド代表と対戦したU-24韓国代表。ガンバ大阪でもプレーしていたFWファン・ウィジョを筆頭に、序盤からペースを握った。

だが、決定機を作りながらも決め切れずにいると、70分にU-24ニュージーランド代表のFWクリス・ウッドに先制ゴールを許すと、そのままタイムアップ。初戦を黒星で終えることになった。

試合後、ピッチの中央に整列したのちに各自解散していく選手たち。コロナ禍となってからは選手同士が握手は公式上省かれてはいるがそこはプロ。各々で声をかけにいき、握手を交わすものも多い。

この日決勝点を挙げたウッドも互いの健闘を称え、ファン・ウィジョと握手を交わす。その後、MFイ・ドンギョンの元へと向かい、手を差し伸べるクリス。だが、なんとイ・ドンギョンはクリスの手を払い、憮然とした態度で拒否した。

この行為に一部の韓国ファンからは「クールだ」、「コロナ対策」などの擁護の声が上がってはいるものの、大方としては「失礼だ」という意見が占めているようだ。

試合でもモラルでも敗れた韓国。次戦は25日にU-24ルーマニア代表と県立カシマサッカースタジアムで対戦するが、スポーツマンシップは発揮されるのだろうか。

赤地に白のホームは「霜降り肉みたい」韓国代表の新ユニフォームはアウェイの方が人気に「アウェイは素晴らしいね」
