31日、東京オリンピックの男子サッカーの準々決勝4試合が行われる。U-24日本代表がU-24ニュージーランド代表との一戦に臨む中、ライバルでもあるU-24韓国代表はU-24メキシコ代表との戦いを迎える。
そんな中、韓国代表のFWチョン・ソンウォン(24)のイケメンぶりにも大きな注目が集まっている。
大邱FCに所属するチョン・ソンウォンは今シーズンのKリーグ1で主に右サイドで起用され、13試合1ゴールをマーク。A代表経験はないものの、AFC U-23選手権タイ2020にも選出。4試合に出場しU-23韓国代表の優勝にも貢献している。
選手としても確かな実力を持つチョン・ソンウォンだが、最大の注目はそのルックス。K-POPのアイドルを彷彿とさせるような端正な顔立ちにお洒落な髪型で絶大な人気を誇り、自身のインスタグラムでは60万人を超えるフォロワーを抱えている。その人気もあり大邱広域市広報大使まで務めている。
韓国メディアによると、チョン・ソンウォンは「大邱のアイドル」と呼ばれ、自身が幼稚園児の頃に2002年の日韓ワールドカップでの元韓国代表MFパク・チソン氏がポルトガル代表戦で決めたゴールを観て、サッカー選手を志すようになったという。
25日に行われたグループステージのU-24ルーマニア代表戦で相手選手と衝突。治療しながらもピッチに戻った際にはその情熱と美貌まで大きな話題になったとのことだ。
チョン・ソンウォンはオリンピックでここまで2試合に出場しているが、そのルックスは日本でも注目を集めており、韓国の音楽グループ「BTS(防弾少年団)のメンバーにいそう」「神は二物を与えたみたい」「優勝」といったコメントが寄せられている。
U-24メキシコ代表戦では、韓国の結果だけでなくチョン・ソンウォンのルックスにも注目だ。

東京オリンピックの男子サッカー準々決勝でU-24日本代表と対戦したU-24ニュージーランド代表。下馬評では日本有利と見られていた中、ニュージーランドが組織的な素晴らしい戦いをみせ、ゴールレスのまま120分間が終了。PK戦の末に4-2で日本が勝利したものの、ギリギリまで追いつめられた。
ニュージーランドは試合後のロッカールームに置かれているホワイトボードに日本への感動的なメッセージを英語と日本語で送ってくれたことで、そのスポーツマンシップや姿勢は大きな脚光を浴びた。
日本戦翌日には、滞在していた鹿嶋市のホテルを出発するシーンの動画を公式アカウントで投稿。そこにはニュージーランドの国旗を持ったホテルのスタッフの方々が、マスク越しでもハッキリと分かる笑顔で、選手たちが乗ったチームバスに大きく手を振っている姿があり、対戦相手だけでなく周囲の人々とも素晴らしい関係性を築いていることが話題となった。
ニュージーランド代表は公式ツイッターで「ありがとう鹿嶋、そして東京2020」と英語で感謝の言葉を述べてくれたが、ニュージーランドが滞在していた鹿島セントラルホテルの公式アカウントが、この投稿を引用する形で「日本の鹿嶋に来てくれてありがとうございます!素晴らしい機会をいただき、光栄でした」と英語で感謝を綴った。
ニュージーランド代表はすでに母国へと帰国しているが、この声やおもてなしの精神は選手たちにも届いているのではないだろうか。

アディダスジャパンは21日、「サッカー日本代表 2024 ユニフォーム」発表した。
今夏行われる世界的なスポーツイベントを前に、日本代表の戦闘服が装いも新たに。新ユニフォームは、「ヨウジヤマモト」のデザイナーでもある日本が誇るファッションデザイナーの山本耀司氏がデザイン。アディダスとヨウジヤマモトのコラボレーションブランドである「Y-3」が日本代表と史上初のコラボレーションを果たした。
この新ユニフォームは、21日に行われたパリ・ファッションウィークにて発表。「ヨウジヤマモト」のコレクションの1つとして発表され、コレクションにはU-23日本代表のMF藤田譲瑠チマ(シント=トロイデン)、なでしこジャパンのMF長野風花(リバプール)がランウェイを歩く特別な演出でお披露目された。
今回のユニフォームのテーマは「FIRE(炎)」。「サッカー日本代表2024ユニフォーム」の全体を通して一貫したモチーフとして登場するヨウジヤマモトによるデザインの炎のグラフィックは、サッカー日本代表が持つ揺るぎない力強さ、そして日本という国が持つ神秘的な力を象徴している。
ホームはダークネイビー、アウェイはホワイトとなり、ホームは青い炎、アウェイは赤い炎がデザインされている。
今回の新ユニフォームに関して、日本代表のMF久保建英、U-23日本代表のMF藤田譲瑠チマ、FW細谷真大、なでしこジャパンのMF長谷川唯、MF長野風花、FW宮澤ひなたがコメントしている。

▽2012年のロンドン・オリンピック(五輪)で結成されたチームGB(グレート・ブリテン)だが、再び結成する方向で話を進めているようだ。イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』が報じている。
▽FA(イングランドサッカー協会)は、2020年に行われる東京五輪で、チームGBの結成を考えているとのこと。14日に行われたUEFA(欧州サッカー連盟)の臨時総会でも議論されたようだ。
▽2012年のロンドンでは、自国開催ということもあって初めて五輪にサッカーチームが出場。チームGBとして参加したが、今年行われたリオ五輪には出場することはなかった。
▽当時は、4協会が協力することでチームGBを結成する予定だったが、スコットランド、北アイルランドが反対。結局、イングランド、ウェールズの混合チームで臨むこととなった。
▽ウェールズ、北アイルランド、スコットランドの各協会は、FIFA(国際サッカー連盟)における独立した地位が失われることを危惧していたが、「前FIFA会長のゼップ・ブラッター氏からジャンニ・インファンティノ氏に会長が代わったことで、その心配は無くなった」とFAのマーティン・グレンCEOがコメントした。なお、「問題は各国家の利益だ」ともしており、4協会が協力してチームを結成するには、まだ課題は残されているようだ。

U-24スペイン代表として東京オリンピックを戦った、DFヘスス・バジェホが、日本への感謝の気持ちを綴った。
ヘスス・バジェホは、レアル・サラゴサの下部組織出身で、2015年7月にレアル・マドリーへと完全移籍。その後は、サラゴサ、フランクフルト、ウォルバーハンプトン、グラナダへとレンタル移籍を経験している。
マドリーでの出場機会はここまで19試合。センターバックを主戦場とする中、東京オリンピックでは右サイドバックとしてプレー。MFダニ・セバージョスの負傷離脱もあり、ゲームキャプテンを務めることも多かった。
そのバジェホは、惜しくもU-24ブラジル代表に敗れて銀メダルに終わったものの、東京オリンピックでは5試合に出場。チームに貢献していた。
ブラジル戦が終わり、帰国の途につく前に選手村で過ごしたバジェホは、自身のインスタグラムを更新。東京オリンピックの思い出の写真とともに、日本語で感謝のメッセージを投稿した。
