アストン・ビラのジャマイカ代表FWレオン・ベイリーは、かつてバイエルン移籍に近づいていたようだ。
レバークーゼン時代に一躍脚光を浴び、現在はアストン・ビラで活躍するベイリー。自身のポッドキャストでバイエルンへの移籍に近づいていた時期があったと振り返った。
「過去に大きな後悔がある… 素晴らしい話が僕に来たんだ。あのバイエルンが僕を欲しがり、家にまで訪ねてきた。彼らはロッベンの後釜を欲していたが、レバークーゼンが僕を手放してくれなかった」
ドイツ『ビルト』いわく、その時期とは2019年の夏で、バイエルンはベイリー獲得に本腰を入れたものの、最終的に断念し、代わりにインテルからクロアチア代表MFイバン・ペリシッチ(現トッテナム)を獲得。2019-20シーズンのバイエルンは3冠を達成した。
バイエルン移籍が叶わなかったことを悔やんだ一方、古巣レバークーゼンに悪い印象を残しているわけではなく、アストン・ビラを選んで正解だったとも付け加えた。
「もう一つ忘れてはいけないのは、多くのクラブが僕に興味を持ってくれた中、ビラという素晴らしい場所に来れたこと。僕自身も勉強し、人に話を聞き、自分に最も適したチームを考えた。見つけることができたよ!」

「寄せすぎ」「コピーだ」アストン・ビラの新エンブレムがチェルシーに酷似?実は過去のデザインを踏襲したもの

アストン・ビラがスタジアム改修をスタート、ユーロ2028の会場となり5万人収容に変貌へ
