マンチェスター・ユナイテッドはU-21イングランド代表DFブランドン・ウィリアムズ(21)の売却を厭わない考えのようだ。

ユナイテッド下部組織出身の左サイドバックであるウィリアムズは、昨夏にプレミアリーグへ昇格したノリッジ・シティに1年レンタルで加入。チームは1シーズンでチャンピオンシップ(イングランド2部)への降格となってしまったが、自身は公式戦通算28試合に出場するなど、武者修行先で一定の出場機会を得ていた。

今シーズン終盤には物議を醸すSNS投稿も話題となったウィリアムズだが、新シーズンはユナイテッドの一員として迎える予定になっている。しかし、イギリス『サン』によると、ユナイテッド側は1000万ポンド(約16億5000万円)のオファーが届けば売却を躊躇しない考えとのことだ。
一時期はオーレ・グンナー・スールシャール元監督に重宝され、すでにユナイテッドでの公式戦出場が50試合まで達しているウィリアムズ。だが、エリク・テン・ハグ新監督からは重要な戦力と見なされておらず、左サイドバックにはイングランド代表DFルーク・ショーとブラジル代表DFアレックス・テレスの実力者2人がいる状況。また右利きながら左サイドバックを務めているが、右サイドバックにも元イングランド代表DFアーロン・ワン=ビサカ、ポルトガル代表DFジオゴ・ダロトがおり、テン・ハグ監督や首脳陣らは地元出身の21歳に継続的なプレー時間を与えることは困難と判断したようだ。

また、今年3月には選手本人も必ずしもオールド・トラッフォードでキャリアを続けることが全てではないという旨の発言をしていることから、今夏に限らずとも新天地を求めてクラブを離れる可能性は捨てきれないと考えられる。

「高価な食べ物はない」ギネス記録樹立、C・ロナウドのあの肉体の秘訣を専属シェフが明かす

“ジャンピングチョップ事件”いまだ和解なし、ファン・ニステルローイが宿敵との騒動を振り返る

「後悔が1つある」カントナが“カンフーキック”事件を回顧「もっと強く蹴っていれば…」
