オーストラリアのグラハム・アーノルド監督が、チュニジア代表戦を振り返った。イギリス『デイリー・メール』が報じた。26日、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)グループD第2節のチュニジア代表vsオーストラリア代表が行われた。 初戦を引き分けたチュニジアと、前回王者のフランス代表に逆転負けを喫したオーストラリアの一戦。

試合は序盤から一進一退の攻防が続く中、23分に左サイドを持ち運んだグッドウィンからのアーリークロスをゴール前のミッチェル・デュークが頭で合わせ、ファーネットに流し込む。
1点のリードで後半を迎えたオーストラリアは、後半に圧力を強めたチュニジアの猛攻を受けたが、GKマシュー・ライアンを中心とした守備陣が最後までゴールを許さず、試合は0-1で勝利を収めた。

グループステージ突破に望みをつなぐ勝利を掴んだオーストラリア。アーノルド監督はチームの戦う姿勢を称えた。
｢彼らはオージー・スピリットを発揮してくれた。我々の試合は、昔ながらのオージー流の戦い方、つまり勇気と覚悟が非常に重要だったんだ｣

｢私は選手たちに『国民を笑顔にしよう』と話しました。母国での祝賀会の様子が目に浮かぶよ。朝には二日酔いになっていることだろう。でも、私は飲みませんよ｣

また、この試合で決勝点を記録したデュークは、スタンドにいた息子のジャクソンへ向け、指で「J」の字を作りるゴールセレブレーションを披露。

試合後のインタビューで｢息子にも教えてあげると言ったら、どうやら僕に返してくれたようだ。一生大事にしたい特別な瞬間だった」と語った。

オーストラリア代表のトニー・ポポヴィッチ監督が敵地での勝ち点1という結果に満足感を示した。 オーストラリア代表は15日、北中米ワールドカップ(W杯)アジア最終予選グループC第4節で日本代表とのアウェイゲームに臨み、1-1で引き分けた。 グラハム・アーノルド前監督の辞任を受け、今回のインターナショナルマッチウィークからサッカルーズの新指揮官に就任したポポヴィッチ監督。前節、ホームで行われた中国代表との初陣を3-1で逆転勝利し、2位浮上を果たして迎えた今節は埼玉スタジアム2002でグループ首位の日本と対峙した。 サンフレッチェ広島時代の元同僚である森保一監督との初対決にも注目が集まった一戦では、前節から6選手を入れ替え。[5-4-1]のより守備的な布陣で試合に入った。 立ち上がりから圧倒的にボールを握られて、ホームチームにハーフコートゲームを展開されたが、中央を固めながら最後の局面で高い集中力を示したオーストラリアは攻撃にこそ出られなかったものの、前半をゴールレスで終えた。 さらに、後半序盤の58分にはGKからのロングフィードを撥ね返した流れからDFルイス・ミラーの右クロスがオウンゴールを誘発し、望外の先制点を奪取。以降も集中した守備で日本の攻撃を凌いだが、76分にはFW中村敬斗の高速クロスをDFキャメロン・バージェスがクリアし切れず、オウンゴールで失点を喫した。 それでも、完全に勢いづいたホームチームの攻勢を何とか凌ぎ切ったオーストラリアは、新体制での連勝は逃したものの、グループ最強の日本を相手に敵地から勝ち点1を持ち帰る上々の結果を残した。 同試合後、ポポヴィッチ監督は交通渋滞の影響でスタジアム到着が大幅に遅れるアクシデントにも見舞われた中、現状では格上と言わざるを得ない強敵相手の勝ち点1という結果に満足感を示した。 「今の状況を考えれば、この結果は良い結果。日本は今回の予選で初めての失点をしたわけで、それと同時に日本は長い間同じメンバーでプレーしている。こちらはいろいろな変更があり、4回しかトレーニングセッションを行っていなかった。でも、それを言い訳にはしたくない。勝ち点1を取れて良かった」 「もちろん勝つためにここに来たわけだが、それでもこちらにとっては1-0で勝てるチャンスがあったけれども、同点に追い付かれてしまった。それでも、自分たちはこれからどんどんいろいろなものを構築していかなければいけない中、現状でのこの結果は良かったと言える」 「スタジアム到着に関してはいろいろ問題があった。長くても1時間半で着くと言われていたが、結局2時間15分かかってしまった。十分な準備ができず、選手たちは到着して10分で準備をして、しっかりとウォームアップもできなかったが、それも言い訳にはしない。選手もスタッフも本当にベストを尽くしてくれ、そういう状況の中でしっかり対応していい試合ができたと思う」 試合内容に関しては、戦前から日本の強力な攻撃陣に対していかに失点を防ぐかが勝ち点奪取のポイントに挙がっていた中、結果的にオウンゴールで1失点したものの、戦術面でのアプローチ、チーム全体のハードワーク含めて想定以上の成果を示した。その点について指揮官も手応えを感じている。 「もちろん日本に勝って勝ち点3を取るというのは我々の目標だが、それは簡単にできることではない。ただ今日は本当にしっかりとした固い意志を持ってディフェンダーが守ってくれた。ディフェンダーだけでなくチーム全体で本当に努力をしたと思う。自分の計算が正しければ、日本はこの3試合で14得点をしてきたと思う。また11人のスタメン全員が欧州のトップリーグでプレーをしている。そういう相手に対して、チャンスを最小化できたということは、とても良かった。もちろん、日本は質の高いチームであり、なかなか凌げなかったところもあるが、自分たちのディフェンダーが組織的に、そしてしっかりと自分たちで守りを組み立ててプレーができたと思う」 一方で、次の対戦で日本に勝利する上では守備強度を維持しつつ、カウンターを中心にフィニッシュ、チャンスの数を増やしていく必要がある。ポポヴィッチ監督も現時点でメンバー、戦術も定まらない状況において、攻撃の部分だけでなくすべての部分でチームを改善していく必要があると語っている。 「次にすべきことはやはり今度は自分たちがボールを持ったときに、そのボールをうまく生かすということ。そこは今後の努力が必要であり、それをもってして次に勝てればいいと思っている。次はさらに良いプレーをして、さらに良い結果を残したいと思う」 「自分たちにとって勝つためのシナリオを作っていくことが重要だが、チャンスが作れなかったのはオーストラリアだけでなく、どの国においても日本相手にチャンスを作るのは難しい。ただ、そのチャンスを作るというところはもちろん改善が必要だが、そこだけでなく全ての分野で改善をする必要がある」 「チャンスを作り出すというだけでなく、今日の場合はアジアでベストの日本に対して、立ち向かっていくという、そのチャレンジが非常に我々の大きな部分だったが、その結果素晴らしい試合ができたと思う。ただ、そこだけに満足せず、改善すべきところを改善していく必要がある。それでも、今日の試合が選手にとって非常に大きな自信をもたらすものになればいいと思っている」 10月の2試合で勝ち点4を積み上げ、日本戦終了時点では暫定2位をキープしたオーストラリアだが、日本を除き混戦模様のW杯出場権争いにおいて来月のサウジアラビア代表戦、バーレーン代表との連戦は非常に重要な意味を持つ。 「全てが難しい試合で、どの試合も大事」と一戦一戦を丁寧に戦う必要があると主張する指揮官だが、やはりホームで戦うサウジアラビア戦で弾みを付けたい考えだ。 「10月のインターナショナルマッチウィークは我々にとって非常に良いものになった。ヘッドコーチもスタッフも変わるという、いろんな変化があった中、ホームでの中国戦では今回の予選で初めて得点し、最初は0-1で負けていたが、最終的に3-1で逆転することができた。非常に大きな勝ちになった。そして、今回は日本という非常に素晴らしいチームを相手に、日本に初失点を与えるという形で自分たちも得点を挙げることができた」 「次回のサウジアラビア戦はホームになり、ホームサポーターが我々を力強く後押ししてくれて、ここ埼玉スタジアムのような素晴らしい雰囲気を作り上げてくれたらいいと思う。そしてサポーターの力を借りて、勝って勝ち点3をもぎ取りたい。サウジとの試合が終わったら、また次の試合というように、一つひとつの試合を丁寧に戦っていきたい」 2024.10.16 05:30 Wed

元イタリア代表ディアマンティが引退表明、ユーロ2012準優勝メンバーでACLでも得点「ファンの愛が僕にとって最高の戦果」
