北海道コンサドーレ札幌の元日本代表MF小野伸二が、サッカー界のレジェンドたちから刺激を受けたようだ。42歳となった小野は、昨シーズンから札幌に復帰。昨季は公式戦11試合に出場したものの、プロ25年目の今季はここまで出場機会はない。

「俺の見立ては結構当たるんだよね。彼はA代表になる可能性が非常に高い選手の1人。クオリティも人間性も抜群だからね」 槙野智章(浦和)や菅原由勢(AZ)、久保建英(ヘタフェ)など数々の名選手を育てたU-17日本代表の森山佳郎監督が太鼓判を押した“彼"というのは、3月のU-24アルゼンチン2連戦に17歳で初招集された中野伸哉(鳥栖)。日本サッカー界で最も不足していると言われる左利きの左サイドバック(SB)だ。 とはいえ、左利きと言っても、右足も同レベルに蹴れるのが逸材の強み。だからこそ、左右のどちらのサイドに入っても全く違和感がない。4月7日のJ1・川崎フロンターレ戦を見ても、スタート時は3バックの右に入っていたが、攻撃時は右SB同等の高い位置を取ってプレー。最前線の酒井宣福目がけて蹴り込んだ前半10分のクロスに象徴されるように、攻撃姿勢を鮮明にしていた。 後半に入り、最終ラインの中央に位置していた田代雅也がレアンドロ・ダミアンの決定的機会を阻止して一発退場になった後は、4バックの左SBへ移動。敵のポジションを見ながら自らも上がっていく。得点機をお膳立てするようなラストパスやクロスは出せなかったものの、2020年J1&天皇杯王者を敵に回してもまるで物怖じすることなくプレー。90分フル出場を果たした。 これで今季開幕からリーグ戦8試合連続スタメン。J1初黒星を喫した2日のセレッソ大阪戦後には「シンプルな技術ミスが多くて修正できなかった。後ろにいる僕らがしっかりとコントロールしていかないといけない」と反省の弁も口にしていた。向上心がひと際高い分、目につくのは収穫より課題の方。その謙虚さが森山監督の言う「優れた人間性」なのだろう。 将来有望の若武者が頭角を現したのは、鳥栖U-15に所属していた13歳の時。2016年にU-13Jリーグ選抜で中国遠征に参加し、2017年ナショナルトレセンU-14に参加。同年から森山監督率いるU-15代表入りし、2019年U-17ワールドカップ(W杯)まで軸を担うなど、順調に階段を駆け上がってきた。そして2020年には16歳で2種登録され、8月1日のFC東京戦でプロデビュー。影山雅永監督率いるU-19日本代表のコアメンバーにも位置付けられた。 だが、ご存じの通り、新型コロナウイルスの影響で同代表が参戦するはずだったアジア予選も2021年U-20W杯(インドネシア)の中止が決定。鳥栖の先輩である松岡大起や本田風智ら2001年世代は大きな打撃を受けた。 しかしながら、2003年生まれの中野はその次のU-20W杯を目指せる年齢だ。むしろ今の時期は鳥栖の活動に専念した方がベターかもしれない。 「1年後には海外に行き、2~3年後にはA代表に入りたい」と野望を抱く本人にとっても、クラブで実績を残して近未来の欧州行きを叶える方が先決。そう考えながら今季は目の前のゲームを1つ1つこなしている状況ではないか。 川崎戦で示した通り、Jリーグトップと肩を並べられるパフォーマンスを維持しているのは確かだ。普通の17歳であれば、ブラジル代表歴のあるレアンドロ・ダミアンらと戦えば萎縮したり、強度で見劣りしたりするものだが、強心臓の男にはそんな素振りを一切、見せない。 U-24代表合宿でも、2つ上の久保から「先輩には敬語じゃなくていいよ。僕も敬語を使っていないから」とアドバイスされたというが、そんな助言がなくても、彼にはプレッシャーも気負いも遠慮もない。そのメンタルに実績と経験値が伴ってくれば、本当に2~3年後のA代表入りはあるかもしれない。場合によっては、1年7カ月後の2022年カタールW杯滑り込みもないとは言えない。 実際、2008年から13年間、日本代表の左SBを担い続けてきた長友佑都(マルセイユ)の後継者探しは本当に深刻なテーマだ。3月代表シリーズでも、FC東京の後輩・小川諒也が抜擢され、代表定着への一歩を踏み出したところだが、「欧州組との差を感じた」と本人も述懐する通り、まだ超えなければならないハードルは少なくない。U‐24代表の方でも旗手怜央(川崎)、古賀太陽(柏)がテストされたが、旗手は守備に難を抱え、古賀は攻撃面で物足りなさを感じさせた。 こうしたライバルに比べると、中野伸哉は多彩な役割をこなせるし、両足で正確なキックを蹴れて、攻撃のお膳立てにも関与できるという魅力がある。さらに際限ない伸びしろがある。 「僕が目指す海外の選手はリバプールの(アンドリュー・)ロバートソン選手です」 こう公言する中野にしてみれば、目指すべき領域は高いが、貪欲に前へ前へと突き進んでいくはず。そうやって世界に羽ばたく彼の姿をぜひとも見てみたい。 10代から注目される日本人選手は、小野伸二(札幌)にしても、香川真司(PAOK)にしても、久保にしても、何らかの挫折を味わうケースが多い。中野もそういう時期は来るだろうが、それを乗り越えてこそ、本物のワールドクラスになれる。近い将来の長友超えを果たすべく、今を大事にしてほしい。 2021.04.10 19:35 Sat
