その後、ポグバはイタリア『ガゼッタ・デッロ・スポルト』のインタビューで｢今の僕の焦点は再びユーベのユニフォームを着ること｣と復帰希望を明言していたが、ユベントスはかねてより双方合意のもとで契約を解除する方針を明かしていた。
今回の報道によれば、違約金なしでポグバの放出を画策するユベントスは、双方合意の下での契約解除について選手側と話し合いを重ねており、この度｢最終段階｣に入ったとのこと。
なお、フリーで新天地を探すことになるポグバには、フランス代表でチームメイトだったGKウーゴ・ロリス、FWオリヴィエ・ジルーが所属するメジャーリーグ・サッカー(MLS)のロサンゼルスFCや、サウジアラビアのクラブが挙がっているが、正式にユベントスの退団が決定してから、興味を持つクラブとの交渉を行う見込みだという。
