ドイツ女子代表のキャプテンFWポップが代表引退を決断…144試合67ゴール、10月28日がラストマッチ「完全に火が消えてしまう前に…」

ドイツ女子代表のキャプテンを務めたポップ

ドイツ女子代表のキャプテンを務めているFWアレクサンドラ・ポップ(33)が、代表からの引退を発表した。ドイツサッカー連盟(DFB)が伝えた。

ポップは2007年に1.FFCレックリングハウゼンでデビュー。世代別のドイツ女子代表を経験すると、2010年2月17日の北朝鮮女子代表戦でドイツ女子代表デビューを果たした。

U-17ドイツ女子代表では2008年に欧州選手権を、U-20ドイツ女子代表では2010年にU-20女子ワールドカップ(W杯)で優勝を経験。U-20女子W杯では全試合でゴールを記録し、10ゴールで得点王に輝き、大会最優秀選手も受賞していた。

その後はドイツ女子代表を牽引する存在となり、2019年のフランス女子W杯、2023年のオーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子W杯にキャプテンとして出場。2016年にはリオ・デ・ジャネイロ・オリンピックで金メダルを獲得。2024年のパリ・オリンピックでは銅メダルを獲得していた。

ドイツ女子代表として144試合に出場し67ゴールを記録。10月28日に行われるオーストリア女子代表との国際新全試合で145試合目となる中、この試合がドイツ女子代表してのラストマッチとなるという。

ポップはDFBを通じてドイツ代表への思いを語った。

「トップチームでの約14年半を含む合計18年間、私は幸運に恵まれ、誇りを持ってドイツ代表チームのユニフォームを着ることができて大変光栄でした」

「私は常に自分の直感が決断を下すことを強調してきましたが、今、それが決定しました。長く涙を流しながら熟考した結果、私は代表チームでのキャリアに終止符を打つことを重い心で決意しました」

「18年前に私の中に点火した火は、年々強くなるにつれて、私は今、燃え尽きそうになりましたが、時限爆弾である私の体や他の人から先に出されるべきではなく、自分自身の内側からこの思い切った決断を下すことが常に重要でした」

「完全に火が消えてしまう前に…それでは遅すぎるから…今がその時なのです」
