報じたイタリア『スカイ』によると、ボローニャも追ったルガーニだが、アヤックス移籍に向け、19日にメディカルチェックとサインを予定し、アムステルダム入りへ。計8シーズンを過ごしたユベントスに別れを告げるという。
若き日のルガーニはアンドレア・バルザーリ、レオナルド・ボヌッチ、ジョルジョ・キエッリーニの後継者筆頭と目される存在だったが、思うような成長曲線を描けず。経験こそ積むが、サブの立ち位置から抜け出せず、今年7月に30歳を迎えた。
それでも、ユベントスからは戦力とみなされ、今年5月に2026年夏までの新契約を結んだが、今季から就任したチアゴ・モッタ新監督の信頼を掴めなかったか、今夏移籍の噂。アル・シャバブやアル・アインなど、移籍の可能性が浮上していた。
