また、シティにおいては途中出場が多いなかでも公式戦49試合の出場で17ゴール5アシストを記録し、W杯では全7試合の出場で4ゴールをマーク。そんな実り多き1年を駆け抜けた直後のシーズンだが、開幕早々に結果を出している。
プレミアリーグ第1節・バーンリー戦でFWアーリング・ハーランドの追加点をお膳立てしていたなか、19日の第2節・ニューカッスル戦では31分に強烈な右足シュートを突き刺し、この1点を守り抜いたシティは1-0の勝利を収め、開幕2連勝とした。
2試合連続でフル出場とジョゼップ・グアルディオラ監督からの信頼も増したことが窺えるが、まだ23歳と若いアルバレスのモチベーションが揺らぐ様子はない。
また、ハーランドをサポートするセカンドストライカーのような形での起用が続いていることに対してもポジティブに捉えている。
「昨季も何度か同じ形でプレーしたよ。チームを助けるには様々なポジション、動き方を学び、それに適応する必要がある。それがどの位置であろうとね。出番を貰えればそれだけで嬉しいし、最高の気分さ。これからもチームのためにベストを尽くしていくよ」

別れろと2万件の署名!? W杯4ゴールのアルゼンチンの新鋭・アルバレス、彼女との破局求める嘆願書がファンから出される

シティが2027年まで契約のフリアン・アルバレスに大幅な昇給と1年間の契約延長をオファー

アグエロがシティの歴史に名を刻んだ瞬間、プレミア初優勝を決めた93:20の熱狂
