現地時間27日、ブラジルサッカー連盟(CBF)はオーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子ワールドカップ(W杯)に臨むブラジル女子代表23名を発表。FWマルタ(オーランド・プライド/37)は自身6度目の大会を迎えることとなる。マルタ・ヴィエイラ・ダ・シルバ、通称マルタは、これまでFIFA最優秀選手賞を6度受賞し、ブラジルのみならず世界の女子サッカーを牽引してきた。W杯にも過去5回出場。全ての大会でゴールを決め、男女通じてもW杯最多となる計17得点をマークしている。

マルタにとって初のW杯は2003年アメリカ大会。当時17歳ながらも3得点を挙げている。2007年中国大会では母国史上初の決勝進出に貢献。ドイツ女子代表に敗れて準優勝に終わったが、マルタは7ゴールをマークし、大会MVPと得点王のダブル受賞を果たした。

「信じられない」「本当に上手い」ブラジルの英雄ロマーリオ、引退後も衰え知らずの鮮やかゴールにファンも驚愕「輝きは色褪せない」
