アーセナルは18日、イングランド代表GKアーロン・ラムズデール(25)と長期の新契約を結んだことを発表した。
契約期間は明かされていないが、イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』によれば、2026年6月30日までで、1年間の延長オプションが付随しているという。
2021年8月にシェフィールド・ユナイテッドから加入したラムズデール。加入当初は当時の正守護神であったドイツ代表GKベルント・レノの控えに甘んじていた。
しかし、シーズンのスタートに大失敗すると、ミケル・アルテタ監督はラムズデールを抜擢。すると、持ち味であるビルドアップ能力が戦術にハマり正守護神の座を奪った。
今シーズンからは背番号を「1」に変えると、ビルドアップだけでなくビッグセーブも連発。イングランド代表でも正守護神に推す声が多くなるほど、高いパフォーマンスを見せており、優勝争いに大きく貢献している。

アーセナルGKラヤが今季プレミアのゴールデングローブ賞確定 ローン加入の身ながら栄冠

「今季はピックフォードと互角」ヘンダーソンがイングランド代表での正GK昇格に意欲…3月はトゥヘル体制が発足

ヴェンゲル、スアレスへの“4000万1ポンド”オファーを反省 「馬鹿げていた…」
2018年までアーセナルで長期政権を築いたアーセン・ヴェンゲル氏が、リバプールから 引き抜きを狙ったウルグアイ代表FWルイス・スアレスに関するエピソードについて語った。イギリス『ミラー』などが伝えている。 今夏にバルセロナからアトレティコ・マドリーに移籍したスアレスは、2011年1月から2014年7月までリバプールに所属。公式戦133試合に出場し82得点を記録するなど、絶対的なエースとして君臨していた。 そのリバプールのエースの獲得に向け、アーセナルが動いたのが2013年の夏。 当時、チャンピオンズリーグ(CL)から遠ざかるなど、低迷が続いていたクラブからの退団の意思を示していたスアレスに関して、ヴェンゲル氏はCL出場権を切り札のひとつとして獲得が可能と踏んでいた。ただ、同じプレミアリーグのライバルへの売却を望まないリバプールの徹底抗戦が予想されていた。 ただ、当時スアレスには4000万ポンド(約54億8000万円)の契約解除金が設定されていると報じられており、アーセナルはこの金額に1ポンド(約136円)を上乗せした“4000万1ポンド”のオファーを掲示し、エースの引き抜きを図った。 やや非常識ともいえるこのオファーは物議を醸し、リバプールのオーナーであるジョン・ヘンリー氏は自身の『ツイッター』で「彼らはエミレーツで何か(薬のようなものを)吸っているのか?」と呟くなど激高。また、実際に前述の契約解除条項は存在しておらず、リバプール側が交渉を拒否したこともあり、スアレス獲得は実現しなかった。 ただ、10月13日に販売が開始されたヴェンゲル氏の自叙伝『My Life in Red and White: My Autobiography』によると、同氏は契約解除条項が存在しないことを理解した上で前述のオファーを掲示していたという。そして、自身の振る舞いを反省している。 「2013-14シーズンにスアレスを獲得したいと思っていた。我々はプレーヤー本人、代理人と合意に達していた。そして、彼の代理人は4000万ポンド以上のオファーがあれば、リバプールは彼を手放さなければならない条項があると主張していた」 「しかし、リバプール内部の軽率な振る舞いのおかげで、そんな条項が存在しないということも理解していた。その事実を確かめるために、4000万1ポンドのオファーを出した。これについては、馬鹿げていると思われただろうし、私自身も同意する」 「リバプールはスアレスを売る気がなかったし、彼らにはプレーヤーを残すだけの(金銭的)余裕があった。さらに、既にバルセロナからのオファーが差し迫っていた」 リバプールはアーセナルからのオファーを拒絶した1年後に、スアレスをバルセロナに6500万ポンド(約89億円)で売却している。ヴェンゲル氏からすると、交渉上の駆け引きのつもりだったと思われるが、ビッグネームの獲得を逃しただけでなく、相手方にばらされてひんしゅくまで買う苦い経験だったようだ。 2020.10.15 17:03 Thu
