W杯1大会最多13得点の記録保持者、フランスのレジェンド・フォンテーヌ氏が逝去

フランスサッカー界のレジェンド、ジュスト・フォンテーヌ氏(享年89)が息を引き取った。『フランス24』などが報じている。

フォンテーヌ氏は1953年から1960年にかけてフランス代表としてプレーし、21試合で30得点をマーク。1958年のスウェーデン・ワールドカップ(W杯)では13得点を記録し、レ・ブルーを母国史上初の準決勝へと導いた。この大会で記録した1大会最多得点数は現在も破られていない。

フォンテーヌ氏がW杯に出場したのはこの1大会のみだが、W杯通算13得点はアルゼンチン代表FWのリオネル・メッシ(パリ・サンジェルマン(PSG))と並んで歴代4位タイ。上回るのは西ドイツ代表のFWゲルト・ミュラー氏(14得点)、ブラジル代表FWロナウド氏(15得点)、ドイツ代表FWミロスラフ・クローゼ氏(16得点)の3名のみだ。

フォンテーヌ氏は1933年8月18日、モロッコのフランス保護領時代にフランス人の父とスペイン人の母の間に誕生。マラケシュで生まれ、カサブランカの学校に通い、そこでサッカーキャリアをスタートした。

1953年にフランスへ移り、ニースへと加入。兵役と兼任しながらフランスカップ、リーグタイトルを獲得。その後スタッド・ランスでプレーし、1958-59シーズンのUEFAヨーロッパカップ(現:チャンピオンズリーグ)ではチームを準優勝に導くなどしたが、両足の骨折など度重なる負傷に苦しみ、28歳の若さで1962年に現役を引退した。

1967年にフランス代表監督して指導者キャリアをスタートするもわずか2試合で更迭。以降はリュション、PSG、トゥールーズの監督を歴任し、モロッコ代表の指揮を執ったのちに引退していた。

また、1999年に『ワールドサッカー』誌が発表した20世紀の偉大なサッカー選手100人では45位に選出されていた。
