カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)で2つの金星を挙げた日本代表。スペイン代表戦では決勝ゴールの判定が世界中で議論され、大きな話題となっている。ただ、初戦のドイツ代表戦、そして1日のスペイン戦と2つのW杯優勝国を下したのは初のこと。さらに、2試合もアップセット(番狂わせ)を起こしたことはW杯の歴史を見ても珍しい出来事だった。

世界も注目する日本の快進撃だが、スタジアムにも大きな秘密があった。
日本がドイツ相手に逆転勝利を収めたのは、ハリファ国際スタジアム。GK権田修一がPKを与え、イルカイ・ギュンドアンにPKを決められてスタートした中、猛攻を受けながらも耐える展開に。すると、後半に左サイドから崩して堂安律が同点ゴール。さらに板倉滉のロングフィードを受けた浅野拓磨が持ち込んでニアサイドを撃ち抜いて逆転。2-1で勝利した。

そして1日、スペイン代表との決勝トーナメント進出をかけて戦ったグループ最終戦。その舞台もハリファ国際スタジアムだった。
3バックでスペインに臨んだ日本だったが、アルバロ・モラタにクロスからヘディングで決められてしまい失点。またしても強豪相手に先制を許したが、後半早々に堂安の強烈なミドルシュートで追いつくと、三笘薫の粘りの折り返しを田中碧が詰めて逆転。その後はスペインの猛攻を受けたが、しっかりと耐えきり、またしても2-1で勝利していたのだ。

W杯優勝国を相手にグループステージで2勝。首位での通過に加え、初の2大会連続ベスト16入りというまさに偉業を成し遂げている日本。その2試合が同じ舞台で行われていたというのは運命を感じるところだ。

1993年に「ドーハの悲劇」と呼ばれるアメリカW杯予選の最後での出場権逸は、日本サッカーにとっては忘れられない出来事の1つ。悲しい思い出だったなか、今回は「ドーハの歓喜」とも言われ、およそ30年ぶりに良い思い出に塗り替えることができた。

厳密に言えば、このハリファ国際スタジアムはドーハではなく、カタール第2の都市・ライヤーンにあるため、「ライヤーンの歓喜」という方が正しいだろう。ただ、この歓喜はドイツ戦、スペイン戦だけではなかったのだ。

実はこのハリファ国際スタジアムでは、11年前にも歓喜を味わっている。

2011年のアジアカップ決勝。アルベルト・ザッケローニ監督が率いた日本代表は決勝に駒を進めると、対戦相手はオーストラリア代表。ここまでで何かを思い出した方もいるかもしれないが、延長戦で長友佑都からのクロスを李忠成が豪快にダイレクトボレーで叩き込み、優勝を果たした試合が行われたスタジアムなのだ。

日本にとっては3度も歓喜を味わった良い思い出の詰まったスタジアム。しかし、今大会で日本がこのスタジアムを使えるのは残り1回。それは3位決定戦しかない。スタジアムの恩恵はないが、再びこのスタジアムに戻ることがあるとすれば、それは“新しい景色”を見たということの証明にもなる。

日本代表GK権田修一の清水入りが決定!ポルティモネンセから期限付き移籍

清水エスパルスは25日、ポルティモネンセの日本代表GK権田修一(31)が期限付き移籍で加入することを発表した。契約期間は2021年1月2日から2022年1月1日までとなる。 権田はFC東京の下部組織で育ち、2007年にトップチーム昇格。当初は出場機会を得られなかったが、2009年にデビューするとJ1で34試合に出場。その後は正守護神としてチームを支えた。 2014年にはオーバートレーニング症候群を発症すると、2016年1月には実質的オーナーを務めている本田圭佑の誘いもありオーストリアのSVホルンへと期限付き移籍。その後FC東京に戻らずに契約解除。しかし、ヨーロッパで移籍先が見つからず、2017年にサガン鳥栖へと加入する。 鳥栖でも正守護神としてプレーすると、2019年1月にポルティモネンセへと完全移籍していた。 また、日本代表としても2010年から招集されており、2019年は11試合に出場。今年も10月と11月のヨーロッパ遠征で1試合ずつプレーした。 しかし、今シーズンは全く試合に絡めない状況が続いており、10月と11月の日本代表活動中に移籍の可能性を示唆。清水に加入することとなった。 権田はクラブを通じてコメントしている。 「清水エスパルスに関わる全ての皆様。2021年シーズンお世話になります、権田修一です。サッカー王国静岡の皆様に喜んでもらえる結果を残せるように、毎日の練習からエスパルスの勝利の為に取り組んでいこうと思います。よろしくお願いします」 2020.12.25 14:14 Fri

21世紀の出場試合数ランキング発表! 首位は1145試合のC・ロナウド、トップ10に日本人選手がランクイン

日本代表の新ユニフォームの発表時期が判明?続々と各国がお披露目している中で日本は遅めの発表か
