現地時間23日、アメリカ、ナショナル・ウィメンズ・サッカーリーグ(NWSL)のプレーオフ準決勝、ポートランド・ソーンズFCvsサンディエゴ・ウェーブがプロビデンス・パークで行われ、2-1でポートランドが勝利を収めた。

ポートランドのMF杉田妃和は先発フル出場。同点のきっかけとなるクロスを上げている。

準々決勝でレギュラーシーズン6位のシカゴ・レッドスターズを下した同3位のサンディエゴが、同2位・ポートランドの敵地へ乗り込んだ一戦。先制したのはアウェイのサンディエゴだった。

右サイド深い位置でキープしたFWアレックス・モーガンの左足クロスに、飛び込んだのはMFテイラー・コルニエック。頭で合わせて8分に試合を動かした。

ポートランドもすぐさまに反撃に転じ、21分に試合を振り出しに。左CKのこぼれ球を回収した杉田がボックス右角付近からすぐさまゴール前へ入れ直すと、ファーへ跳ね返されたボールにMFラケル・ロドリゲスが反応。ペナルティアーク左でワントラップから力みのないファインボレーを右隅へ沈めた。

以降は互いに決定機を迎えるも、ポートランドのGKベラ・ビックスビー、サンディエゴのGKカイレン・シェリダンの両GKが好守を披露。2点目を奪えぬまま終盤まで推移したが、延長戦も見え始めた終了間際にまたもセットプレーからドラマが生まれる。

攻勢を強めたポートランドが追加タイム3分に左CKを獲得すると、セカンドボールに反応したのは途中出場のMFクリスタル・ダン。ボックス内で右足を一閃。強烈な一撃を左上に突き刺した。

これが決勝点となり、ポートランドが2-1と逆転勝ち。2018年以来、4年ぶり4度目の決勝進出を決めた。

2017年以来3度目の優勝が懸かる決勝戦は現地時間29日、ワシントンのアウディ・フィールドで行われる。対戦相手はレギュラーシーズン1位のOLレインを下し、初優勝を目指すカンザスシティ・カレントとなっている。

史上初、バルセロナ主将のプテジャスが女子バロンドールを連覇! 64ゴールに絡む大活躍

森保ジャパン撃破のイラク代表に不安? ラ・リーガのカディスがヘスス・カサス監督引き抜きを画策か

「おめでとう」優勝した日本を祝福するウズベキスタン指揮官、ゴールが奪えなかったことを悔やむ「チャンスをものにできなかった」
