アメリカ代表のグレッグ・バーホルター監督が、日本代表戦を振り返った。『ESPN』が伝えた。23日、キリンチャレンジカップ2022で日本はアメリカと対戦。ともにカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)に出場する国同士の対戦となった。
アメリカはキャプテンでエースのクリスチャン・プリシッチ(チェルシー)が負傷のためにメンバー外。スターティングメンバーの平均年齢は24歳143日ということで、非常に若いメンバー構成となった。
立ち上がりは勢いを持って日本陣内に攻めていったアメリカだったが、強度の高い中盤のプレスと、攻撃面での精度の低さから徐々に日本のペースに。すると鎌田大地がネットを揺らして先制を許す。

【2024-25 プレミアリーグ前半戦総括】超WS選出の最優秀選手は異次元のアタッカー
◆4連覇王者不振にロンドン勢奮闘も新生レッズが独走 開幕前には5連覇を狙うマンチェスター・シティ、アーセナルと直近2シーズンに優勝を争った2強を軸にタイトルレースが繰り広げられるかに思われたが、蓋を開けてみれば1試合未消化ながら2位以下に6ポイント差を付けたリバプール(勝ち点45)が首位を独走している。 クロップ長期体制終焉に伴い、前フェイエノールトのスロット監督を新指揮官に招へいしたリバプール。昨夏の移籍市場では主力の残留に成功した一方、純粋な補強はキエーザのみと上位争いへの関与に疑いはなかったが、タイトル争いの主役を演じると見る向きは少なかった。しかし、プレミア初挑戦のオランダ人指揮官の下、攻守両面で傑出した安定感をみせたマージーサイドの雄は14勝3分け1敗、最多45得点、最少タイ17失点と圧巻のスタッツを含め首位にふさわしいパフォーマンスを披露した。さらに、並行して戦うチャンピオンズリーグ(CL)ではリーグフェーズ唯一の全勝で首位、EFLカップ(カラバオカップ)でも準決勝進出と最高の前半戦を過ごした。 女子選手の意見を参考に配慮し白パンツを中止、ナイキが女子W杯出場13カ国の新ユニフォームを発表!
