ベルギー代表ベンテケ、ルーニー監督のDCユナイテッド入りが決定!

DCユナイテッドは5日、クリスタル・パレスからベルギー代表FWクリスティアン・ベンテケ(31)の獲得を発表した。契約は2024年までの2年半で、2025シーズンの延長オプションも付帯している。

2012年夏のアストン・ビラ入りからイングランドを主戦場としてきたベンテケ。かつてリバプールでもプレーして、プレミアリーグ通算280試合で86得点を誇るストライカーは2016年夏からC・パレスに活躍の場を移した。

C・パレス在籍6年目の昨季も公式戦31試合に出場したが、先発機会が11回にまで減り、ゴール数もプレミアリーグでの4得点のみに。C・パレスとの契約は来季までだったが、DCユナイテッド行きの噂が浮上していた。

メジャーリーグサッカー(MLS)のイースタン・カンファレンスで14チーム中最下位に沈むDCユナイテッドのウェイン・ルーニー監督は「クリスティアンは長らく最高峰でプレーしてきたトッププレーヤー」と評し、期待した。

「彼の経験とゴールを決める能力、そしてチームを助ける力は非常に貴重なものになる。彼がプレーするのはチームにとっても、私にとってもエキサイティング。大きな違いになってくれるはずだ」

なお、アメリカ上陸となるベンテケはビザと国際移籍証明書の受領を待ち、サラリーキャップの制限が適用外となるスタープレーヤーの証、特別指定選手としてDCユナイテッド入りを果たすという。

クリスタル・パレス、最古参DFジョエル・ウォードとの契約延長を発表
