FIFAランキング1位国を相手に力試しの一戦で粘り強い守備で対抗した日本はPKによる1失点にまとめ上げたが、攻撃をシュート4本に抑え込まれ、0-1で敗戦。スコア的に惜敗だが、内容的に終始圧倒され、3トップの中央で出場した古橋も今季のセルティックで公式戦20ゴールを記録した力を出し切れず、67分に交代した。
それから一夜明け、自身もエリア外からのシュート1本に終わった古橋は冒頭でまずブラジル戦の振り返りを求められると、「一人ひとりが本当にうまくて、対戦してすごく勉強になったというか、良いものを肌で感じられたし、すごく楽しかった」と話す。
一方で、点差以上の差を感じる敗北に「負けたのも、何もできなかったのも悔しい」との心境も吐露。自身も封殺されたが、「まだまだ成長できると感じたし、もっと自分を磨き続け、技術を高めて、頑張らないといけない」と成長も誓った。

「まさに死闘ってカンジ」歴史に残るバーレーンとの4-3の激闘!2004年大会プレイバックに反響「このゴールで中澤佑二に惚れた」

水頭症の治療も及ばず他界した工藤壮人に古巣が追悼…カナダからもメッセージ「一番辛い仕事」、「信じられません」

BE:FIRSTがアンバサダー就任の「FILA」、かつては中田英寿氏も同ブランドのスパイクを着用
