アメリカ合衆国サッカー連盟(USSF)は6日、ユベントスのMFFウェストン・マッケニーを代表チームから離脱させたことを発表した。
アメリカはカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)北中米カリブ海予選に参加。8日には9月で予選3試合目となるホンジュラス代表戦を控えている。
そんな中、マッケニーが代表チームを離脱。アウェイでのホンジュラス戦に帯同させないことが発表された。
マッケニーは。5日に行われたカナダ代表戦にも不在。なんと、新型コロナウイルス(COVID-19)のプロトコルに違反したことが理由だった。
マッケニーは自身のインスタグラムのストーリーズにて、今回の件を報告。自身の行動を謝罪した。
「自身の行動を謝罪します。今夜は選手たちを応援し、すぐにチームに戻りたいと思います」
しかし、アメリカ代表のクレッグ・バーハルター監督は、「ウェストンはイタリアに戻る。チームの方針に違反したため、ホンジュラスとの試合に出場できなくなる」とコメント。「成功するためには、グループ全員が責任を負うことが重要だ」と、マッケニーの軽率な行動を非難した。
そのマッケニーは、今年4月にはユベントスのプロトコルに違反。アルゼンチン代表FWパウロ・ディバラやブラジル代表MFアルトゥールらとともに自宅でパーティを行い、アンドレア・ピルロ監督から出場停止を受けていた。
今回で2度目のプロトコル違反。これにはユベントスも呆れてしまった様子であり、マッケニーの売却を考え始めているとのことだ。

数度の構想外扱い跳ね除けたマッケニー、ユベントスは新契約オファーを計画か
ユベントスがアメリカ代表MFウェストン・マッケニー(26)との契約延長を計画しているようだ。 マッケニーは2021年夏にシャルケから加入すると、初年度から主力の一人に定着。しかし、翌シーズンはクラブが財政難に陥った影響もあり、冬の移籍市場でリーズ・ユナイテッドにレンタル移籍となった。 リーズから復帰した昨夏には、マッシミリアーノ・アッレグリ前監督の構想から外れることに。ところが、MFポール・ポグバのドーピング違反やMFニコロ・ファジョーリの違法賭博行為が発覚してそれぞれ長期出場停止処分を受けたこともあり、急遽チームに戻されると昨シーズンは公式戦39試合に出場した。 それでも、今夏にチアゴ・モッタ監督が就任するとまたもや構想外の扱いに。アストン・ビラや母国復帰などさまざまな噂が流れたが結局残留となり、8月に2026年夏までの契約更新が発表された。 こうした経緯を経て迎えた今シーズンも、やはり主力としてプレー。ここまでセリエAで11試合2ゴール2アシスト、チャンピオンズリーグ(CL)5試合2ゴール、コッパ・イタリア1試合出場と上々の成績を残している。 イタリア『トゥットスポルト』によると、構想外の扱いからの活躍を繰り返すマッケニーについて、ユベントス上層部も高評価。8月に契約更新をしたばかりだが、1年の延長オプションが付随した2028年夏までの新契約締結を計画しているという。 交渉はまだこれからの段階となっており、アメリカ代表MFがどのような決断を下すかも含めて進展が注目される。 2024.12.25 11:10 Wed

「悪いジョーク、悪い映画」悪夢の敗退…アメリカ女子代表MFラピノーがラストW杯を終え語る「世界を永遠に変えるようなことができたことが最も重要」
