初戦を落としたドイツは19日、ユーロ2020グループF第2節で前回王者ポルトガル代表と対戦。先制こそ許したものの、35分にDFロビン・ゴセンズのクロスが相手のオウンゴールを誘発すると、直後にもMFヨシュア・キミッヒの折り返しがまたもオウンゴールを誘う。
後半の立ち上がりにはゴセンズがMFカイ・ハヴァーツのゴールをお膳立てすると、60分にはキミッヒのクロスからゴセンズが決めて4点目。両ウイングバックが点に絡んたドイツが4-2でポルトガルを下して今大会初勝利を手にした。
指揮官は失点後もまったく動じていなかったようだ。試合後、自身だけでなく選手も同様、慌てずにやるべきことをやれたと述べた。
「ポルトガルはとてもレベルが高いので難しい試合だった。ただ、ビハインドを負った後でも、我々はスピリットを示し、道を見失うことなく落ち着いていた。ペースを維持し、多くのチャンスを作り出せていたので何も問題はなかったよ」
ポルトガルを分析し、両ワイドを高い位置に設定したとコメントしたレーブ監督。躍動したキミッヒとゴセンズのパフォーマンスには非常に満足しているようだ。

イスラム過激派組織と関係があるとされたリュディガーが記者を訴え「イスラム主義者として侮辱され、中傷されることを許さない」

クロースが新スパイクを試し履き 自国開催のユーロに向けてか
