ドイツ代表のヨアヒム・レーブ監督が、ユーロ初戦の黒星を嘆きつつチームのパフォーマンスを誇った。ドイツサッカー連盟(DFB)が伝えている。

ドイツは15日に行われたユーロ2020グループF第1節で、フランス代表と対戦。立ち上がりの主導権争いを経てやや攻め込まれる形が続くと、DFマッツ・フンメルスが相手のクロスをクリアし切れずオウンゴール。その後はボールを握る展開となったものの、フランス得意のカウンターで攻め込まれる場面も目立ち、そのまま0-1で敗れた。この結果、早くもグループステージ突破に向けて黄色信号が灯ったドイツは、次節で初戦快勝のポルトガル代表と対戦する。

試合後のインタビューに応じたレーブ監督は、敗北はしたもののチームのパフォーマンスを称賛。決勝トーナメント進出に向け厳しい状況にはなっているが、まだ挽回は可能だと強調した。

「残酷なほど激しい試合だった。すべてを懸けて、最後まで戦ったと思う。チームのファイティング・スピリットを責めることはできない。我々は持てる力をすべて出し切ったのだから」

「たくさんのデュエルがあったと思う。そして我々には、ファイナルサードでの突破力が不足していた。オウンゴールについては運が悪かったね。マッツの置かれた状況でボールをクリアするのは難しい」

「我々はサイドからのプレーを考えていた。フランスは中央がコンパクトかつタイトであり、それを知っていたからこそのプランだ。できる限りクロスでの攻撃を考えており、 (ロビン・)ゴセンズと(ヨシュア・)キミッヒは非常に多くの攻撃をしてくれた」
