浦和所属の豪代表FWナバウトのW杯は終わらない! 「痛みはない。何かが起きるはず」

▽浦和レッズに所属するオーストラリア代表FWアンドリュー・ナバウトのロシア・ワールドカップ(W杯)での挑戦はまだ終わっていないようだ。同選手が22日、グループC最終節ペルー戦(26日)の出場の可能性について言及した。フランス『レキップ』が伝えている。

▽ナバウトは21日に行われたロシアW杯グループC第2節デンマーク戦(1-1)で先発していたが、Jリーグの川崎フロンターレ戦で脱臼していた古傷の右肩を痛め、75分にピッチを後にしていた。

▽そして、同試合後にはオーストラリア代表を率いるベルト・ファン・マルバイク監督は｢肩の負傷が重く、彼のトーナメントは終わった｣とコメント。今大会中の復帰の可能性が絶望的であると主張していた。

▽しかし、22日に記者団の囲み取材に出席したナバウトはペルー戦での復帰を諦めていないと語った。

「2度目の脱臼の場合、回復は早いと聞いているよ。今のところ、僕は問題ない。痛みも感じていない」

「僕はいつでもポジティブでいることを心がけているんだ。もし、リハビリがうまくいけば何かが起きるかもしれない。以前のときに比べてかなり早く回復できるかもしれない」

▽早期復帰に向けての意気込みを語ったナバウトだが、直近2試合のパフォーマンスを見ると、サッカルーズにおいて絶対的な主力ではないためファン・マルバイク監督がリスクを冒して起用する可能性は低そうだ。ただ、オーストラリアが決勝トーナメントに勝ち上がった場合、戦列に復帰できる可能性が出てきたことは確かだ。

▽また、今回のケガが比較的軽いことがわかったことは所属する浦和にとっては朗報となりそうだ。

元豪州代表スピラノビッチが34歳で現役引退…かつて浦和所属のセンターバック

Aリーグ・メンのメルボルン・ビクトリーでプレーする元オーストラリア代表DFマシュー・スピラノビッチ(34)が現役を引退した。代表として2014年のワールドカップ(W杯)に出場するなど、通算36キャップのスピラノビッチはメルボルン・ビクトリーでのプロ入りから、ドイツ、日本、カタール、中国でもプレー。日本では2010年から2012年途中まで浦和レッズに所属して、通算48試合で1得点5アシストの数字をマークした。その浦和を退団してからはカタール、オーストラリア、中国ときて、2018年夏からパース・グローリーで改めて母国復帰。2021年夏から古巣のメルボルン・ビクトリーに戻り、今季はここまでAリーグ・メン4試合の出場にどどまっていた。 17年間のプロキャリアに終止符を打つセンターバックはメルボルン・ビクトリーの公式サイトで「この場を借りて、プロ選手としての引退を発表させてもらう」と表明。そして、感謝の言葉を送っている。「この4カ月は足のケガに悩まされ続け、ついに現役を退くときが来た。今季を戦い抜いて、メルボルン・ビクトリーの上位進出を手助けしたかっただけに、複雑な心境だ。チームメイト、コーチングスタッフ、トニー・ポポヴィッチ、そしてクラブ全体に感謝したい。キャリアを通じて、僕は恵まれ、誇りを感じる。過去にいたクラブ、チームメイト、コーチ、ファンにも楽しい思い出と特別な時間をありがとうと言う」また、現役時代のいち時期をサンフレッチェ広島で過ごしたトニー・ポポヴィッチ監督は「マティは私が何年も指導し、一緒に仕事をしてきた選手。非常に才能のある守備者で、ピッチ内外ですべてが完璧なプロだ」などと労った。 2023.02.03 14:40 Fri

元オーストラリア代表DFのレイバット氏が遺体で発見…99年にベルマーレ平塚でプレー

ベルマーレ平塚でもプレーした元オーストラリア代表DFスティーブン・レイバットさん(46)が遺体で発見された。オーストラリア『シドニー・モーニング・ヘラルド』によると、レイバットさんは13日に家族から行方不明届が出されていたとのこと。12日に友人を訪ねるため、南東部シドニーから東部ブリスベン近郊のバイロン・ベイへ向かったものの、13日午前には家族と連絡が取れなくなっていたという。地元警察が大規模な捜索を行った結果、14日夜にバイロン・ベイからほど近いビーチ近くの低木林でレイバットさんの遺体が発見されたとのこと。現段階で死因や事件性の有無は公式には発表されていないものの、事件性は低いとみられている。レイバットさんは2000年のシドニー五輪にU-23オーストラリア代表として参加し、2000〜2004年にかけてはA代表で15試合出場。クラブキャリアでは1999年に短期間ながらもベルマーレ平塚(現:湘南ベルマーレ)でプレーし、オランダのフェイエノールト、ベルギーのヘントなどにも在籍経験を持つ。引退後は「現役時代にそんなことはできなかった」として2021年に同性愛をカミングアウト。同年には、病院のリハビリ病棟に勤務するなか、腎臓移植によって高齢男性の命を助けていた。レイバットさんの訃報を受け、元オーストラリア代表DFルーク・ウィルクシャー氏など、多くの関係者が哀悼の意をSNSなどで表明している。 2024.01.15 13:30 Mon
