アストン・ビラは17日、チャンピオンズリーグ(CL)リーグフェーズ開幕節でヤング・ボーイズとのアウェイ戦に臨み、3-0で快勝した。

昨季プレミアリーグで4位と躍進し、41年ぶりに欧州最高峰の舞台に戻ってきたアストン・ビラは、プレミアリーグで3勝1敗スタートとしたなか、2点差をひっくり返して勝利した3日前のエバートン戦と同様のスタメンで臨んだ。

予選プレーオフを制したスイス王者ヤング・ボーイズに対し、アストン・ビラは12分、コリーにボックス左からGKマルティネス強襲のシュートを打たれてひやりとさせられる。
さらに23分にもコリーに際どいコントロールシュートを打たれたアストン・ビラだったが、24分にマッギンのミドルで牽制すると、27分に先制する。ショートコーナーの流れからティーレマンスのシュートが決まった。

ここから流れを変えたアストン・ビラは38分、バックパスをカットした流れからJ・ラムジーが決めてリードを広げると、43分にはワトキンスが3点目を挙げかけたが、VARが入ってハンドを取られ、2点のリードで前半を終えた。
迎えた後半、65分にJ・ラムジーが3点目に迫ったアストン・ビラが引き続き主導権を握ると、終盤の86分にオナナがダメ押し弾を決めて勝負あり。

アストン・ビラがスタジアム改修をスタート、ユーロ2028の会場となり5万人収容に変貌へ
