今月下旬にカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)の開幕を迎える中、右サイドバックに問題を抱えるイングランド代表。チェルシーのDFリース・ジェームズ、マンチェスター・シティのDFカイル・ウォーカーはともに負傷していて、出場が微妙な状態にあり、リバプールのDFトレント・アレクサンダー=アーノルドは今シーズンも守備面から多くの批判を集めている。

そうした中、元イングランド代表FWで同国フットボール界のご意見番を務めるアラン・シアラー氏は、イギリス『BBC』の『Match of the Day』に出演した際、トリッピアーの起用を進言。攻守において優れた能力を持っている選手だと評した。
「彼は優れたディフェンダーだ。チャンスを作ってくれる選手が欲しいとしても、彼は適任だし、素晴らしいリーダーでもある」

「彼はその姿勢と能力で、ニューカッスルでも試合の流れを変えてきた。本当にファンタスティックな選手で、プレッシャーがかかっていても落ち着いていて、まったく慌てない。彼のオールラウンドなプレーは素晴らしい」

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】

トゥヘル監督就任前最後のイングランド代表、ハーウッド=ベリス&ホールの若手2人が初招集! 【UEFAネーショングリーグ】

「可愛い!」ペガサスに乗って宙を舞うイングランド代表FWサカの衝撃写真が話題沸騰「この男を愛さないわけにはいかない」

▽2012年のロンドン・オリンピック(五輪)で結成されたチームGB(グレート・ブリテン)だが、再び結成する方向で話を進めているようだ。イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』が報じている。 ▽FA(イングランドサッカー協会)は、2020年に行われる東京五輪で、チームGBの結成を考えているとのこと。14日に行われたUEFA(欧州サッカー連盟)の臨時総会でも議論されたようだ。 ▽2012年のロンドンでは、自国開催ということもあって初めて五輪にサッカーチームが出場。チームGBとして参加したが、今年行われたリオ五輪には出場することはなかった。 ▽当時は、4協会が協力することでチームGBを結成する予定だったが、スコットランド、北アイルランドが反対。結局、イングランド、ウェールズの混合チームで臨むこととなった。 ▽ウェールズ、北アイルランド、スコットランドの各協会は、FIFA(国際サッカー連盟)における独立した地位が失われることを危惧していたが、「前FIFA会長のゼップ・ブラッター氏からジャンニ・インファンティノ氏に会長が代わったことで、その心配は無くなった」とFAのマーティン・グレンCEOがコメントした。なお、「問題は各国家の利益だ」ともしており、4協会が協力してチームを結成するには、まだ課題は残されているようだ。 2016.09.15 15:18 Thu
