元ブラジル代表FWのロナウド氏がカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)に臨むセレソンのメンバー選考に疑問を呈している。

W杯通算15得点を誇るロナウド氏は出場機会こそ訪れなかったものの、17歳の若さで1994年のアメリカW杯に選出された経験があり、続く98年のフランス大会で絶対的エースとして準優勝、2002年の日韓大会では得点王に輝き、優勝に貢献している。

10代の頃にのちの栄光へと繋がる貴重な経験をしたとあってか、カタールW杯に臨むセレソンに若手有望株が選出されていないことに不満の様子。スペイン『ムンド・デポルティボ』のインタビューで、パウメイラスのU-16ブラジル代表FWエンドリッキ(16)を抜擢すべきだったと力説した。
「多くの国民はガビゴルらの選出漏れについて話題にするが、私が監督ならエンドリッキをチョイスした。将来豊かで、すでに活躍している。彼のみならずセレソンの将来にとってセンセーショナルな経験となるはずだ」

「それ(有望株の登用)は今大会のセレソンに欠けている要素だ。ドゥンガも2010年にネイマールを選ばなかったが、優勝した94年にはパレイラが17歳の私を選び、02年にはスコラーリがカカを連れて行った」
ロナウド氏が推すエンドリッキは欧州のメガクラブがこぞって興味を示す一方、プロキャリアはまだ5試合のみ。それでも、直近4大会のセレソンは最高でもベスト4止まり。たとえ戦力として未知数だとしても、16歳エンドリッキのような大胆な人材登用は、優勝を目指す上では大事なのかもしれない。

ロナウドが日韓W杯での“大五郎カット”を謝罪、奇抜な髪型の裏事情とは?

21世紀の出場試合数ランキング発表! 首位は1145試合のC・ロナウド、トップ10に日本人選手がランクイン

ブラジル代表FWリシャルリソンがアニメキャラ4体の“タトゥー”!孫悟空の下にはディズニーの人気キャラ

ロナウドが日韓W杯での“大五郎カット”を謝罪、奇抜な髪型の裏事情とは?
