2022年夏からヴァンサン・コンパニ氏に指揮を託したバーンリー。一昨季のチャンピオンシップを制してプレミアリーグ復帰を果たしたが、19位終戦で2部逆戻りが決まった。
そんなバーンリーだが、コンパニ氏がバイエルンに引き抜かれ、後任探しに。後任候補の名が挙がれど、なかなか決まらずだったが、パーカー氏の就任でようやく決着した。
パーカー氏はこれまでトッテナムのアカデミーや、フルアム、ボーンマスで監督を歴任。2022年12月からは初の海外挑戦でクラブ・ブルージュを指揮したが、2023年3月に解任され、フリーの状態だった。
母国で監督復帰のパーカー氏は「ここに来られて本当に嬉しい」と心境を明かすと、「今季は成功が何よりも大事。勝って、ファンとクラブが誇らしく感じるチームを作らないといけない」と述べた。

「とても重要な存在」 遠藤航の帰還をクロップが歓迎! マク・アリスターとも「一緒にプレーできる」

英2部で今季クリーンシート24回…イングランド代表GKトラッフォードの獲得へニューカッスルが交渉中か
ニューカッスルがバーンリーからイングランド代表GKジェームズ・トラッフォード(22)の獲得に向けて交渉中だそうだ。 トラッフォードはマンチェスター・シティの下部組織で育まれた192cm守護神。トップチーム昇格を経て23年夏にバーンリーへ完全移籍し、昨季はプレミアリーグ28試合に出場した。 今季はチャンピオンシップ(2部)降格のチームで33試合に出場、驚愕のクリーンシート『24試合』。全34試合でわずか9失点という耳を疑うレベルの堅守軍団を支え、チームも1年でのプレミア復帰へ3位と好位置につける。 2部の選手でありながらイングランド代表にも招集されるなか、イギリス『フットボール・インサイダー』によると、ニューカッスルがGKニック・ポープの後継者としてトラッフォードに目をつけ、すでに交渉が始まっているという。 仮にもバーンリーが来季のプレミア復帰を逃した場合、獲得交渉はより容易なものに。トラッフォードの現行契約は2027年6月までで、市場価値はチャンピオンシップ1位タイの1800万ユーロ(約27.9億円)となっている。 2025.02.28 14:10 Fri

プレミア初昇格のルートン・タウン、1905年から使用のホーム初戦の開催断念…改修は順調も遅延なしの可能性を「絶対に保証することはできない」
クラブ史上初のプレミアリーグ昇格を決めたルートン・タウンだが、懸念されていたスタジアム問題に直面する結果となった。 2022-23シーズンのプレミアリーグ昇格プレーオフ決勝では、コベントリー・シティとの対戦でPK戦を制して昇格を決めたルートン・タウン。クラブ史上初となるプレミアリーグ昇格はビッグニュースとなった。 しかし、本拠地であるケニルワース・ロードには問題が。1905年からルートン・タウンの本拠地として使用されているケニルワース・ロードだが、プレミアリーグの基準を満たしていない状況。収容人数は1万356人であり、最低要件である5000人は上回っている状況だが、テレビ中継のための施設などが満たされていないという。 そのため、新たなスタンドを建設しており、予定より早く作業は進んでいるとのこと。しかし、プレミアリーグの開幕には間に合わせられる保証ができないことから、初のホームゲームの延期を発表した。 ルートン・タウンはクラブを通じて「プロジェクトの規模により、クラブはサポーターに対し、将来の予期せぬ問題によって遅延が生じ、ホームで予定されている開幕戦に影響を及ぼす可能性がないことを絶対に保証することはできない」と声明。早い段階で決断することで、しっかりと予定を組めると判断したとした。 プレミアリーグの開幕戦では日本代表MF三笘薫が所属するブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオンとのアウェイゲームを戦うが、19日にバーンリーをホームに迎えて初のプレミアリーグを戦う予定だった。 なお、クラブは2019年に新スタジアムの建設計画で許可をもらっており、2026年に完成予定。ただ、それまでにプレミアリーグの要件を満たすため、1000万ポンド(約17億4700万円)規模の改修工事を進めている。 2023.07.15 10:40 Sat
