アストン・ビラのチームバスが襲撃を受けた事件に関し、ランカシャー警察は事件の映像を公開。情報提供を呼び掛けた。27日、アストン・ビラは敵地ターフ・ムーアで行われたプレミアリーグ第3節でバーンリーと対戦。DFマティ・キャッシュの2ゴールとFWムサ・ディアビの得点で3-1で快勝し、今シーズン初の連勝を飾った。
しかし、試合終了後にスタジアムから約2マイル離れたM65ジャンクション10を走行中のチームバスに投擲が行われ、フロントガラスを含む車体が損傷する事件が発生。幸い、アストン・ビラのチーム関係者に負傷者はいなかった。
30日にランカシャー警察のX(旧:ツイッター)やSNSで公開された映像は、チームコーチの監視カメラによるもの。映像にはバスが高速道路に合流する様子が映っており、道路脇の街路樹から何かが飛び出し、車の窓に激突する様子が収められている。
犯人はまだ捕まっておらず、ランカシャー警察のサプト・メリタ・ワーズウィック氏は「誰も負傷しなかったのは幸運以外の何ものでもありません。バスの運転手がガラスの破片で負傷したり、車がレーンを外れた可能性もあれば、レンガが別の車に衝突した可能性もある。重傷者や死亡者が出る可能性もありました。このため、我々はこの事件を極めて深刻に受け止めています」と声明を発表。事件解決へ向け、情報提供を呼び掛けている。
「事件が起きたとき、この地域は祝日で交通渋滞があり、バーンリーvsアストン・ビラの試合後には人々の帰宅も重なって混雑していました。(そのため)誰かを見たがまだ我々に話をしていない人や、この男性をより鮮明に映したドライブレコーダーを所持している方がいるだろうと考えております」

「寄せすぎ」「コピーだ」アストン・ビラの新エンブレムがチェルシーに酷似?実は過去のデザインを踏襲したもの
