スペイン代表のルイス・デ・ラ・フエンテ監督が、スコットランド代表戦を振り返った。スペイン『アス』が伝えた。

28日、ユーロ2024予選グループA第2節でスペインはアウェイでスコットランドと対戦した。カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)後に就任したデ・ラ・フエンテ監督。初戦のノルウェー代表戦は3-0と圧勝して終わった中、連勝と行きたかった第2戦ではつまづくことに。開始7分でスコット・マクトミネイにゴールを奪われると、51分にもマクトミネイに得点を許し、2-0で完封負けをした。

2戦目で早くも黒星を喫した新生・スペイン。デ・ラ・フエンテ監督は試合後のインタビューで改善点を口にした。

「違う結果を生み出すために、我々は多くのことをうまくやってきた。ポジティブさを保ちたい」

「多くの改善が必要だが、選手たちの姿勢には満足している。最も重要なことは、ポジティブなことを読み取り、何が悪かったかを確認することだ」

また、「2つのアクシデントが起きた。選手に罪はない。このレベルでは細部がバランスを崩すこととなる」と細部が重要だとし、「前半は我々が支配し、準備したほとんど全てが反映されていた」と、前半の戦いぶりを讃えた。

それでも改善すべき点はあるとし、「改善の余地は常にあるが、私が選手に伝えたアイデアからは1つもブレてはいない。細部を改善し、磨き続けなければならない。選手はそのアイデアをうまく解釈してくれていた」と選手たちはやりたい戦い方を理解してプレーしてくれたと振り返った。

「これは一体何?」「誰にも似合わない」新たな色を導入したスペイン代表のアウェイユニフォームに驚きの声続出「なんでこの配色に?」
