アンリの最多得点記録にあと「2」と迫るジルー、フランス代表でのプレーに喜び「完全にフィットしている」

ミランのFWオリヴィエ・ジルーが、フランス代表でプレーする喜びを語った。イタリア『スカイ・スポーツ』が伝えている。

モンペリエ時代の2010年にフランス代表デビューを果たしたジルー。2018年のロシア・ワールドカップ(W杯)では全7試合に出場し、得点こそなかったものの、周りを活かすプレーに徹して優勝に大きく貢献した。

昨年にレアル・マドリーのFWカリム・ベンゼマが代表復帰して以降は出場機会が限られていたが、ベンゼマの負傷もあって22日にホームで行われたUFFAネーションズリーグ(UNL)のグループA・グループ1第5節のオーストリア戦に先発。後半に得意のヘディングシュートでゴールを決め、フランス代表での最年長得点記録を更新した。

フランス『テレフット』のインタビューに応えたジルーは、代表でのプレーに満足感を語った。

「オーストリア戦でも能力が発揮できたと思う。僕は監督の意図がわかるし、完全にチームにフィットしているんだ」

「ゴールを決めれたのは良いことだね。年齢を重ねても得点感覚は残っているし、チームに少しでも貢献したいという思いは常に持っている」

また、ティエリ・アンリ氏が持つ代表での歴代最多得点記録である51ゴールにあと「2」と迫ったことについても言及。自身と同じアーセナルでもプレーしたレジェンドに近づけることが光栄だと話した。

「アンリと肩を並べられるかどうかはわからないが、いずれにせよ、彼に近づいているということは、フランスサッカー界のレジェンドについて話しているのだから、それはもう大きな誇りだよ」

さらに、11月に開催されるカタールW杯に向けては「僕はピッチで何をすべきかということに集中している。監督が必要だと思えばそれに応えるだけだよ」と意気込んだジルー。25日に行われたUNLのデンマーク代表戦では先発するも、無得点に終わったが、大舞台で再び輝きを放つことができるだろうか。

「鶏デカすぎ」「ケンタッキーとのコラボか?」フランス代表の新ユニフォームにはビッグサイズのロゴが採用「巨大すぎない?」
