1日にカタールのドーハでグループステージの組み分け抽選が催され、ドイツはスペイン代表、日本代表、そして大陸間プレーオフのコスタリカ代表vsニュージーランド代表の勝者と同居するグループEに入った。

ドイツサッカー連盟(DFB)の公式サイトによると、力関係的にもスペインとともに中心となり、回っていきなそうなグループ入りが決まったドイツ指揮官は心境を明かしている。

「簡単じゃないが、我々はトーナメントで大きな目標を掲げている。こうした抽選では他の選択肢などないし、これからのことに取り組まないとね。エキサイティングで、面白いグループだ」

ドイツ代表ゴレツカ、W杯行きに「自信がある」「今の僕は100%」
