試合は15分にジェイミー・マクラーレンがゴールを決めて先制するも、後半早々の54分にアブドゥラ・ファワズにゴールを許し同点に。それでも79分にアーロン・ムーイが値千金の勝ち越しゴールを決めてリードする。
このまま勝ち点3を獲得すると思われた中、87分にPKを与えてしまう落とし穴が。このPKをアブドゥラ・ファワズにしっかりと決められ土壇場で2-2の同点に。そのままドローに終わった。
「私は彼らに言った。時々見えるだらしなさ、フィジカル的な面にはガッカリしている。でも、全体としてここからが本番だ。自分たちを奮い立たせ、クラブに戻り、懸命に働き、健康な状態を取り戻そうと。日本戦を楽しみにしている」
次戦で勝たなければ非常に厳しい状況となる一方で、連勝すれば逆転の突破もある。日本との得失点差では3リードしており、勝ち点で並べば逆転は可能だ。

元豪州代表スピラノビッチが34歳で現役引退…かつて浦和所属のセンターバック
Aリーグ・メンのメルボルン・ビクトリーでプレーする元オーストラリア代表DFマシュー・スピラノビッチ(34)が現役を引退した。 代表として2014年のワールドカップ(W杯)に出場するなど、通算36キャップのスピラノビッチはメルボルン・ビクトリーでのプロ入りから、ドイツ、日本、カタール、中国でもプレー。日本では2010年から2012年途中まで浦和レッズに所属して、通算48試合で1得点5アシストの数字をマークした。 その浦和を退団してからはカタール、オーストラリア、中国ときて、2018年夏からパース・グローリーで改めて母国復帰。2021年夏から古巣のメルボルン・ビクトリーに戻り、今季はここまでAリーグ・メン4試合の出場にどどまっていた。 17年間のプロキャリアに終止符を打つセンターバックはメルボルン・ビクトリーの公式サイトで「この場を借りて、プロ選手としての引退を発表させてもらう」と表明。そして、感謝の言葉を送っている。 「この4カ月は足のケガに悩まされ続け、ついに現役を退くときが来た。今季を戦い抜いて、メルボルン・ビクトリーの上位進出を手助けしたかっただけに、複雑な心境だ。チームメイト、コーチングスタッフ、トニー・ポポヴィッチ、そしてクラブ全体に感謝したい。キャリアを通じて、僕は恵まれ、誇りを感じる。過去にいたクラブ、チームメイト、コーチ、ファンにも楽しい思い出と特別な時間をありがとうと言う」 また、現役時代のいち時期をサンフレッチェ広島で過ごしたトニー・ポポヴィッチ監督は「マティは私が何年も指導し、一緒に仕事をしてきた選手。非常に才能のある守備者で、ピッチ内外ですべてが完璧なプロだ」などと労った。 2023.02.03 14:40 Fri

元オーストラリア代表DFのレイバット氏が遺体で発見…99年にベルマーレ平塚でプレー
ベルマーレ平塚でもプレーした元オーストラリア代表DFスティーブン・レイバットさん(46)が遺体で発見された。 オーストラリア『シドニー・モーニング・ヘラルド』によると、レイバットさんは13日に家族から行方不明届が出されていたとのこと。12日に友人を訪ねるため、南東部シドニーから東部ブリスベン近郊のバイロン・ベイへ向かったものの、13日午前には家族と連絡が取れなくなっていたという。 地元警察が大規模な捜索を行った結果、14日夜にバイロン・ベイからほど近いビーチ近くの低木林でレイバットさんの遺体が発見されたとのこと。現段階で死因や事件性の有無は公式には発表されていないものの、事件性は低いとみられている。 レイバットさんは2000年のシドニー五輪にU-23オーストラリア代表として参加し、2000〜2004年にかけてはA代表で15試合出場。クラブキャリアでは1999年に短期間ながらもベルマーレ平塚(現:湘南ベルマーレ)でプレーし、オランダのフェイエノールト、ベルギーのヘントなどにも在籍経験を持つ。 引退後は「現役時代にそんなことはできなかった」として2021年に同性愛をカミングアウト。同年には、病院のリハビリ病棟に勤務するなか、腎臓移植によって高齢男性の命を助けていた。 レイバットさんの訃報を受け、元オーストラリア代表DFルーク・ウィルクシャー氏など、多くの関係者が哀悼の意をSNSなどで表明している。 2024.01.15 13:30 Mon

「観客動員が少ない!」オーストラリア・Aリーグが従業員の半数解雇で事業再編へ…今季の平均観客動員数最多はシドニーFCで「1万4097人」
