バイエルンのカナダ代表DFアルフォンソ・デイビス(20)がガールフレンドとの馴れ初めを語った。カナダ代表の一員としてカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)北中米カリブ海予選を戦うデイビス。そのガールフレンドはパリ・サンジェルマン(PSG)のカナダ女子代表FWジョーディン・ウイテマ(20)だ。昨季はリヨンの15連覇を阻み、7月には東京オリンピックで金メダルにも輝いている。

そんなサッカー界のトップでプレーするパワーカップルが、共同YouTubeチャンネルで2人の関係の始まりについて答えた。
当時はバンクーバー・ホワイトキャップスの育成組織に所属していた2人。また、2017年にはカナダのU-17プレーヤー・オブ・ザ・イヤーを受賞するなど共通点も多い。交際スタートから4年半が経過しているが、デイビスは了承をもらうまでには長い時間がかかったと語っている。

「若かったころの話だと思って聞いてほしい。当時は16歳だったんだ。全員が一緒にトレーニングしたので、そこに入っていって彼女に「こっちにきてよ」と言ったんだ。そしたら彼女はスローダウンしたのさ」
それをウイテマはさえぎって「いいえ、あなたはそこでトレーニングをしてなかったわ!朝にそこで練習し、私を迎えに学校に来て、練習に連れて行ってくれました」と説明。それを受けてデイビスは次のように続けた。

「私は彼女を練習に連れて行くようになった。そしてある日、私がそれをしなければならない日だと分かったんだ。悪いけど、僕は本当に緊張していて、どこかから自信をつかもうとした。僕の中の何かが言えって言ったんだよ」

「だから、きみがアルフォンソ・デイヴィスのガールフレンドになりたいかどうか気が気でなかった。そして、それはうまくいった!彼女は「YES」って言ったんだ!」

どこをどう切り取ってものろけにしか聞こえない2人の馴れ初め。今後もピッチでも私生活でも充実した時間を過ごしてもらいたい。

バイエルンDFデイビスがさらに“パワーアップ”!オフ期間の“肉体改造”で仕上がり抜群

女子選手の意見を参考に配慮し白パンツを中止、ナイキが女子W杯出場13カ国の新ユニフォームを発表!

「意味が分からない」カナダ代表の新ユニフォームはナイキのロゴが目立ちすぎ?他国と異なる仕様に「本当にがっかり」「冗談だろ?」

難民経験のアルフォンソ・デイビスがW杯へ! 「夢が非現実的だとはもう言わせない」
