国際サッカー連盟(FIFA)は25日、2023年に開催されるFIFA女子ワールドカップの開催国がオーストラリアとニュージーランドの共同開催になることを発表した。
また、アメリカが優勝した前回大会は出場枠が24カ国だったが、2023年大会からは32カ国に拡大されることが決定している。

2023年大会の開催国を巡っては、共同開催を狙うオーストラリアとニュージーランド、コロンビア、ブラジル、そして日本が立候補。しかし、6月に入り新型コロナウイルスの影響を考慮した日本とブラジルは招致国としての立候補取り下げを表明していた。そして、FIFAは25日にオンラインによる理事会で招致国の投票を実施。その結果、オーストラリア&ニュージーランドが35票中22票を獲得し、コロンビアの一騎打ちを制した。なお、南半球での女子W杯の開催は初となる。PR

「観客動員が少ない!」オーストラリア・Aリーグが従業員の半数解雇で事業再編へ…今季の平均観客動員数最多はシドニーFCで「1万4097人」

U-17女子代表がオーストラリアに4発快勝! 佐藤ももサロワンウエキが圧巻の個人技ゴール含む2得点【U-17女子アジアカップ】

女子W杯共催のオーストラリアとニュージーランド、2029年クラブW杯招致を検討
オーストラリアとニュージーランドが、2029年のFIFAクラブ・ワールドカップ(CWC)の開催地に立候補することを検討しているようだ。 2025年大会から4年に一度の開催周期になるCWCは参加クラブも現在の7チームから32チームに拡大され、2021～24年までの各大陸王者らが出場。日本からは今年5月にAFCチャンピオンズリーグ(ACL)を制した浦和レッズの出場が決定している。 また、先日に国際サッカー連盟(FIFA)は、2025年のCWC開催地がアメリカに決定したことを発表している。 来月にニュージーランドとのFIFA女子ワールドカップ(W杯)の開催を控えるオーストラリアサッカー連盟(FFA)のジェームズ・ジョンソンCEOは、両国がその新フォーマットのCWC第2回大会の開催地に立候補することを検討していると語った。 2018年までFIFAでジャンニ・インファンティーノ会長の下で働いていた同氏は、「ジャンニはUEFAでチャンピオンズリーグを本当に成長させた。彼はそのために何が必要かを知っている。いつの日か最高のクラブチームが我々の海岸に来ることは、オーストラリアンフットボールにとって良いことだけだ」、「それは男子ワールドカップと同様に我々が検討できることだが、それは我々が史上最高の女子ワールドカップを実現した後だ」と、オーストラリア『シドニー・モーニング・ヘラルド』でコメントした。 また、ジョンソン氏は今回の女子W杯、2029年のCWC開催を足掛かりに、2034年の男子W杯の招致を目指していることも認めている。 2023.06.28 18:23 Wed
