元ブルガリア代表FWのディミタール・ベルバトフ氏が古巣マンチェスター・ユナイテッドでプレーするフランス代表MFポール・ポグバに言及した。イギリス『ミラー』が報じている。

昨夏に新たな挑戦意向を明らかにしたものの、話が具体化せず、今季もユナイテッドでプレーするポグバ。相次ぐ足首のケガで手術を受け、長期離脱を強いられる今季はここまで公式戦8試合(2アシスト)の出場にとどまっているが、チームに合流できずにいる間もレアル・マドリーや古巣ユベントスの関心報道が先行するなど、移籍の可能性が加熱している。

そうしたなか、先日に選手代理人のミノ・ライオラ氏が自らの顧客を今夏、レアル・マドリーに移籍させたい意向を口にしたことで、ポグバの去就がより注目の的に。ベルバトフ氏は『Betfair』でそのポグバに触れ、今冬にスポルティング・リスボンから加入して以降、輝きを放つポルトガル代表MFブルーノ・フェルナンデスとの共闘を望み、残留を期待した。

「ポール・ポグバや彼の未来について、改めて多くの噂が挙がっている」

「彼は長くプレーできていないのにもかかわらず、人々は彼について質問してくる。プレーしたいのか、どれぐらいで戻ってくるのか、帰ってきたらブルーノ・フェルナンデスとプレーできるのかをね。そうした疑問は遅かれ早かれいつかわかることだ」

「私としては彼に残ってもらって、フェルナンデスと一緒にプレーする姿が見たい。そうじゃないなら、ポグバを待つチームがある。レアル・マドリーやユベントスにかかわらず、どこに行ってもフィットできるだろうね」

また、周囲から相次ぐ批判についても語り、「ポグバに対する批判は不公平だ。彼が何をするかなんて、もはや関係ない。彼はチームをサポートするためにできる限りのことをやっている」と不当性を主張。「彼の仕事に対する姿勢や、もっとうまくなりたいという思いに疑いはない」と続け、過剰な批判をやめるよう促している。
