スペイン代表MFサウール・ニゲスは、スペインサッカー連盟(RFEF)がロシア・ワールドカップ(W杯)開幕直前にジュレン・ロペテギ監督を解任したことに疑問を呈している。
レアル・マドリーはロシアW杯開幕の3日前に、来季以降ロペテギ監督がチームを指揮することを発表。これを重く見たスペインサッカー連盟(RFEF)はその翌日にロペテギ監督を解任し、スポーツディレクターを務めていたフェルナンド・イエロ氏を後任監督に据えた。
しかし、このRFEFの決定に納得がいかない選手も存在しているようだ。アトレティコ・マドリーMFサウールはスペイン『TVE』とのインタビューで、ロペテギ監督解任が適切な判断ではなかったとの見解を示した。
「驚くべき決断だった。そこにれっきとした理由があり、それが選手たちに関係のないことだとしても、適切なタイミングとは言えなかった。ジュレンは2年にわたってW杯への準備を進めていたわけだし、指揮を執り続けるに値したんだ」

21世紀の出場試合数ランキング発表! 首位は1145試合のC・ロナウド、トップ10に日本人選手がランクイン

「まだ泣くの早いって」と本田圭佑にツッコまれた日本代表サポーター、元Jリーガーの親友だった「親友が世界的にバズってて最高」
