スペイン代表を、ロシア・ワールドカップの優勝候補筆頭に推す声が高まっている。同国『マルカ』が伝えた。

スペインは27日の国際親善試合でアルゼンチンに6-1と勝利した。バルセロナFWリオネル・メッシを欠いていたとはいえ、強国アルゼンチンに大勝したことで、スペインの評価はうなぎ上りだ。

イタリア『コリエッレ・デッロ・スポルト』は「イスコの3ゴールでスペインが悪夢のようなアルゼンチンを破壊」と記している。フランス『レキップ』は「スペイン代表2.0」と隣国の新時代を予感。ポルトガル『ボラ』は「スペインがアルゼンチンの面子を潰す」と称賛した。

スペインはフレン・ロペテギ監督就任以降、18試合で無敗を続けている。その間、同代表は59得点を記録。ロペテギ監督はEURO2016終了からの2年間で44選手を試しながらメンバーを固めてきた。

だがロペテギ監督は、「ワールドカップはまだ始まっていない。ロシアでは別の展開が待っている」と地に足を着ける。優勝を目指す各代表は今後、必死でスペインを研究することになるかもしれない。

メッシと妻は30年来の仲、幼馴染の2人が結ばれW杯で優勝するまで

21世紀の出場試合数ランキング発表! 首位は1145試合のC・ロナウド、トップ10に日本人選手がランクイン
