アストン・ビラは1日、サウサンプトンのポーランド代表DFヤン・ベドナレク(26)をレンタル移籍で獲得したことを発表した。

2017年7月にレフ・ポズナンから完全移籍でサウサンプトンへと加入したベドナレク。センターバックとしてこれまでチームを支えた。

サウサンプトンでは公式戦153試合で7ゴール4アシスト。日本代表DF吉田麻也とも最終ラインを形成するなどした。
昨シーズンもプレミアリーグで31試合に出場し4ゴールを記録するなど、主軸としてプレーしていた。

なお、ポーランド代表として42試合に出場し1ゴールを記録している。
アストン・ビラは、今夏セビージャから獲得したブラジル人DFジエゴ・カルロスが開幕2戦目でアキレス腱断裂の重傷。守備の要として期待していた中での長期離脱となると、その後3連敗と結果が出ておらず、CBの補強が急務だった。

主将として優勝した吉田麻也が減給…その理由は? チームに残った理由は小学生の娘、MLSの制度にも言及「とても不公平」

日本代表でもキャプテンを務め、2024シーズンはメジャーリーグ・サッカー(MLS)の優勝に貢献したロサンゼルス・ギャラクシーの吉田麻也(36)だが、まさかの減給になったという。アメリカ『ロサンゼルス・タイムズ』が伝えた。 名古屋グランパスでキャリアをスタートさせ、その後はVVVフェンロ、サウサンプトン、サンプドリア、シャルケでプレーした吉田。2023年8月にLAギャラクシーに加入した。 日本代表でもキャプテンを務め、2014年のブラジル・ワールドカップ(W杯)から3大会連続で出場。127試合に出場し12ゴールを記録している。 その吉田は、LAギャラクシーでもキャプテンを務め、MLSで34試合2得点。MSLカップでも5試合1アシストを記録するなど、公式戦41試合で2ゴール1アシスト。3655分プレーし、チームで最もピッチに立った選手となった。 チーム内では最年長であり、大きな貢献をした吉田だが、減給になったという。 吉田は2024シーズンは80万ドル(約1億2300万円)の基本給を受け取っており、チーム内では6名が吉田以上のサラリーを受け取っていた。 吉田は「正直に言って、とても不公平だ」とコメント。「チャンピオンになったのに給料が減る。こんなことがあってはいけないと、誰もがわかっている」と、不満を口にした。 ただ、吉田の不満はLAギャラクシーではなく、MLSのサラリーキャップ制度に対して。厳しいサラリーキャップ制度を持つMLSでは、一部の優秀な選手に報いることができないものとなっている。 LAギャラクシーがMLSカップ決勝で起用した14選手のうち、吉田だけが今冬に契約の再交渉を行わなければいけないこととなった。U-22契約を結んでいたデヤン・ヨベリッチ、若手指定選手のガブリエル・ペックが、U-22イニシアチブ契約の年齢制限で契約が変更。2025シーズンのサラリーキャップを守るためには、100万ドル(約1億5500万円)以上の追加支払いが必要となり、コストカットに動く必要が出てきてしまった。 その結果、チームは選手を手放すことで資金を捻出。ウィル・クンツGMは「これは数学の問題であり、サッカーの問題ではない」と、戦力を考える以前に制限の問題を解決する必要があったとした。 手放したDFジャレン・ニールは地元で育った若き才能ある選手。ヨベリッチもLAギャラクシーが発掘した才能だが、2人ともチームを去らざるを得なかった。 吉田は「ファンは地元で育ち、クラブで成功した選手を見たいはず。これはごく普通のことだ」とコメント。サッカー面以外の部分で制約が生まれることは良くないとし、アメリカ国内で留まらない世界のサッカーを、野球やバスケットボールと同じ考えで運営することは競争に負けると訴えた。 「他のスポーツ、例えばバスケットボール、野球、アメリカンフットボールなどは、海外との競争はない。でも、サッカーは違う。世界中の競争相手のことを考えなければならない」 「契約が良ければ良いほど、選手はそこに行く。だから今、中東がとても人気がある。だから5年前、中国がとても人気があった。資本主義とはそういうものだ。そして僕は、アメリカは非常に資本主義的な国だと思っていた」 かつての北米サッカーリーグ(NASL)は、チームのオーナーが競い合った結果、湯水のように資金を投じ、結果として破産に追い込まれる形となった。そのため、MLSでは意図的にブレーキをかけている。 ただ、吉田は日本でもMLSへの関心が高まっていることを痛感。変化も必要だと訴えている。 「みんなからMLSについて聞かれた。MLSは凄く人気が出てきている」 「それと同時に、サラリーキャップが日本と異なるため、財政的に成長する必要がある。DP(特別指定選手)以外の選手には何も違いはない。これがカギだ。お金がなければ、誰も来ない」 特別指定選手制度によって、各クラブは2人までサラリーキャップに関係なく選手を獲得でき、そのためにヨーロッパで活躍した選手たちもプレーが可能となった。デイビッド・ベッカム氏が生み出した制度だが、その他の選手には大きな差は生まれない。 その中で、吉田が減給を受け入れた理由はなんなのか。他クラブからもオファーがあった中で、LAギャラクシーに残った理由は小学生の娘だったという。 「これは非常に複雑だ。娘の学校を変えたくはなかった」 「ここ数年、娘は1、2年ごとに新しい環境に移り、それは娘にとってはとても悲しいことだ。娘も年を重ねている」 娘のためにLAギャラクシーに残った吉田。減給を受け入れるだけの価値があると考えた吉田だが、2026年の北中米W杯や2028年のロサンゼルス五輪に向けてもプラスだと考えている。 「アメリカでこのようなネットワーク、関係、経験を持っていることは、将来にとって悪くない。だから、僕はこの短い期間ではなく、もっと長い期間を考えていた」 「正直に言って、難しい決断だった。経済的な状況に妥協することも難しいが、どうなるかわからない。サッカー以外でお金を稼ぐ必要がある」 チャンピオンになっても、中心選手として活躍してもサラリーが減るMLS。アメリカサッカーが成長を遂げ、世界と競争したいのであれば、新たな考えを持つ必要が出てきそうだ。 2025.02.13 11:00 Thu

「監督がブチ切れた」吉田麻也のW杯で印象深いシーンは森保一監督の怒り、監督は「本当に忘れられません」とクロアチア戦後の選手たちの反応に思いを馳せる

「寄せすぎ」「コピーだ」アストン・ビラの新エンブレムがチェルシーに酷似?実は過去のデザインを踏襲したもの

アストン・ビラがスタジアム改修をスタート、ユーロ2028の会場となり5万人収容に変貌へ
